linkON THE LEFT A SINGLE SIX 22lr WITH THE BLACK OUTLINE RS, ON THE RIGHT A SHORTY BLACKHAWK 45C/45ACP CONVERTIBLE WITH THE WHITE OUTLINE RS. COMMENTS: SHOOTING DONE OFF A REST @ 25 YARDS. TOOK THE 22lr OUT TO THE RANGE ON THE RIO GRANDE ON THURSDAY MORNING, WAS USING SOME 36gr REMINGTON AMMO. GOT THE WINDAGE DIALED IN BUT WITH THE RS BOTTOMED OUT WAS SHOOTING 6 TO 8 INCHES ABOVE POA. I HAD A 2 DOGS FS ON THE GUN AND I SWITCHED IT OUT FOR A HIGHER 2 DOGS FS I HAD ON A 9.5" 32 MAG SINGLE SIX. WENT BACK TO THE RANGE THIS MORNING. NOW THE GUN SHOT low BUT I DIALED IN LICKETY SPLIT. PERSONALLY, I FIND THE BLACK OUTLINE DISTRACTING. IF I WANT A BLACK RS I BELIEVE I WILL GO WITH THE ONE WITHOUT ANY OUTLINE (THE # 2 I BELIEVE). "I THINK" THE TOPS OF THESE NEW RS's SIT HIGHER THAN THE RUGER BLADES. ALSO SHOT THE 45 SHORTY CONVERTIBLE WITH THE 45 ACP CYLINDER, WHICH JRH HAD MODIFIED TO ACCEPT AUTO RIM BRASS. SHOT SOME WINCHESTER 230gr FMJ TARGET AMMO, IT SHOT PATTERNS. ALSO "harvested" SOME STAR LINE 45 AR BRASS BY SHOOTING UP SOME LOADS WITH A 260gr SWC. THIS LOAD SHOT WELL AND I WAS ABLE TO DIAL IN WITH THE RS ALMOST BOTTOMED OUT. BUT 260grs IS A HEAVY BULLET FOR MY INTENDED USE FOR THIS REVOLVER SO I BELIEVE I WILL HAVE ENOUGH ELEVATION RANGE TO DIAL IN WITH WHATEVER I DECIDE TO USE IN IT. I REALLY LIKE THIS WHITE OUTLINE RS (THE #7 I BELIEVE), A GREAT SIGHT FOR SHADY Senderos, DARK BRUSH AND OTHER LOW LIGHT SCENARIOS. WHAT I STILL NEED TO CHECK IS IF THE SET SCREW STAYS SET OR REQUIRES RETIGHTENING AFTER USE. DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE AN ISSUE ON THE 22lr BUT DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE HEAVIER KICKING CENTER FIRE REVOLVERS. ONE LAST COMMENT, IT IS EASIER TO TIGHTEN THE SET SCREW WITH A COCKED HAMMER, JUST MAKE SURE YOUR REVOLVER IS EMPTY.

Are those fine or extra fine points on the paint pens? I've tried model paint on my rear sights before with a tooth pick, but the results are not always too great. Ordered a rear sight with the white outline yesterday can't wait till the mail lady brings it! Extra Fine.

ONE LAST COMMENT, IT IS EASIER TO TIGHTEN THE SET SCREW WITH A COCKED HAMMER, JUST MAKE SURE YOUR REVOLVER IS EMPTY. I havent been able to back that set screw out with 500 or 475 full power stuff yet and a mean ole 454 i have been testing them on. There will be some exceptions on rear height depending on the particular revolver. I have a couple that the frame was not cleared out as much as others and the rear sight just wont sit down as far as some. That is why i made the low pros. Just in case you have that one out of 50 that just doesnt have enough front site. I have seen a lot of variations with the fronts thru the years like all of us have that have been shooting these old war horses since the sixties. my love with the single action colts and rugers is going back over 5 decades, and some of you on here have been doing it even longer. Hell of a thing realizing that there are more years behind than in front of you huh? Fermin just left here with a pile of goodies after dropping off a pile as well and we had another mad scientist moment. It was Ugly. He is blasting home right now at top speed to start testing a theory and we may have just unleashed a new demon after the hammers ship This month. September might get real interesting in the sixgun world. MAN I LOVE THIS JOB!

GUYS, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PUT ANY AND ALL OF THE COMMENTS REGARDING OUR REAR SIGHTS IN THIS THREAD.
Your comments and questions are important to Ronnie and me and we are determined to meet your needs, answer your questions, AND deal with all of the Ruger rear sight variations as we discover them.
I bet Ronnie has more Rugers taken apart in his shop (48) than most guys have Rugers. Come to find out there’s yet another variation we did not address. While that information was a bit of a surprise it ain’t going to be a problem to address. BUT if we miss your post then we all lose out on that pertinent information.
We very much appreciate your comments and concerns and don’t want you to take this as criticism but instead as a way to be sure we don’t leave anyone or anything out!
Thanks fellas!!

These look great. I'll be trying some.
Will have to look thru my sight stash and see if I can find variations to send Ronnie.

Nice work guys! One of the main reasons I replaced ruger rears has been the fact that the elevation screw would get hammered out and therefore not repeatable. Maybe these guys can come up with a fix to that as well. I realize that sometimes all it takes is a replacement screw for that. Wonder if it’s still available?
PJ- interesting paint job.

I ordered one of the white outlined standard height, standard width ones for my Super Blackhawk. Several years ago, Ruger started replacing the cheap (in my opinion) aluminum rear sight with a steel one. How do these fit in the newer steel base site with the Ruger Logo on them?
