I'd sure like to have one of those, even if I couldn't afford to shoot it but once or twice a year!

Sweden tried to buy the Thompson (in sweden m/40) but due to the second world war we got only a few hundred of them. We choose to arm us with the 9mm submachine gun m/45. The m/40, a few hundred of then where sold to other countries but two of them are on military museums. I got to clean one of them ( 30 hears ago) and tested it with 50 rounds, a lot of fun😀

I HAD A COLT THOMPSON "NAVY" IN DARN NEAR NEW CONDITION. CAME OUT OF A POLICE DEPARTMENT. BOUGHT FOR $4,000 SOLD FOR $20,000, LAST TIME I CHECKED THEY WERE GOING FOR AROUND $50,000. TOOK IT OUT AND SHOT IT ONCE WITH A DRUM MAGAZINE (DO NOT RECALL HOW MANY ROUNDS I PUT IN IT). NEAT DARN GUN BUT I WAS JUST OWNING IT AND NOT USING IT.

Mine sold for $54,000 at auction last year. A good bit more than I paid 30years ago. If I could have afforded it I should have bought more when I got mine.

Neat gun.
Local had one (not sure of model). Shot it once. What impressed me was how heavy the gun was and how easy it was to miss man sized steel popper at 25 yds (sweeping the target from the hip).

Was my Dad's favorite to carry when taking landing craft to unfriendly places. He preferred it to the 30 carbine.

Here is a pic in my armory at work. Upper right is a 1927 Thompson with a USN over stamp. That thing is an absolute hoot to shoot and on auto, you can definitely feel how much it walked when you let off the trigger. The reising to the left I haven't shot yet.

Very nice!
A few years back,, in Ohio,, at the OGCA mid-summer show,, the Thompson collectors would do a display of their wonderful guns. I was there with the Ruger Collectors,, and between the two collectors groups,, we'd have a LOT of interest in our stuff. I got to see several rare & historical Thompsons! I have had the pleasure of shooting a 1921-28 overstamped gun at the CorBon factory underground range several years ago. The owner then, was the 2nd owner,, having gotten it from a LEO dept. It still had the LEO agency metal tag on the stock.
