I already have a S&W 16-4 .32 H&R mag with a 4” barrel and have been thinking hard about a .32 cal gun for EDC. I am looking at several guns and a wide price range. Starting with a 3” S&W 632 Centennial .32 H&R, a 3” S&W 30 in .32 S&W Long, a Ruger LCR .327 Fed or one of the Charter Arms .32 H&R chambered guns. I have no experience with any of the snub .32 chamberings so am open to suggestions. I am thinking pocket carry or small OWB holster carry.

I own and like the 32 snubs and own a few. The Ruger LCR is nice and offers 327 power. The S&W is nice but only in 32 Long and heavy. The little Charter Arms shrouded hammer 32 mag guns seem to run well and are impossible to beat for the money... Just thinking about adding a Charter to my neighborhood walk fanny pack.

For me, nothing compares to my 4" Smith 631. It has been a constant companion since it came out.

I HAD A S&W SS HAMMERLESS IN 32 MAG, I COULD NOT SHOOT IT WORTH A S... AND DO NOT THINK IT WAS ALL OR MOSTLY MY FAULT. THAT GUN IS NOW GONE. FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW MY EDC HAS BEEN A RUGER LCR IN 327 WHICH I JUST CARRY IN MY PANT POCKET. THE 100gr FEDERAL AE AMMO IS A HANDFUL SO I USE SOME FEDERAL 85gr AMMO.

32mag (in a modern, strong gun) performs at such a higher level than 32 S&W I would start the search there if it is going to be carried with any real purpose. In the real world of guns that you might actually find available in 32 mag or 327 you are probably limited to the Charter Arms, Rugers or maybe (cough, cough) a Taurus. For the Rugers either LCR or if you get very lucky a SP-101 in either 32H&R or 327FED. Have some, love them all. I also have several CA 32Mags. While not a huge CA fan they are a very serviceable carry piece that you don't have to baby,, but you will probably have to tweek . My only advice on buying Charter Arms is to handle and inspect it closely before buying. Most are quite fine, but some can be STINKERS. Same advice for Taurus. Difference is it is easy to return a gun to CA,,,,,,, not so much with Taurus.

The Smith & Wesson 4" J-frame Model 631 in 32H&Rmag is just the right size and weight. Mine has excellent fit and finish. Accuracy is excellent when I do my part. I have several big boys in 32H&Rmag, but this little beast runs right up there with them. Pricey and hard to find, but you get what you pay for.

I have a friend who's in his 70's. This belonged to his grandfather. John told me he carried it during the coal mine wars in West Virginia.

We have a pair of the S&W 432PD and both shoot and carry easily. They are expensive when found.

Any experiences with the Taurus 327? www.gunbroker.com/item/992433927Or Charter Arms Professional? www.gunbroker.com/item/992311528This will be for my wife to carry in her purse. She doesn’t want an auto and the S&W and Ruger LCR in the .38 kicks a little much for her. I figure I could load up some .32 Long or even the .32 H&R that would be comfortable for her

I have looked at a Charter Professional at my local gun store, it is a blued Model & looks great, I have one of the Ruger 4" Sp101 shown in Mr. Taffin's last picture, it's a good gun, but the Charter I handled had a better trigger. I thought about buying it & selling the Ruger, but I may buy it & keep the Ruger instead, as it looked like a great gun for $400
