Is there any chance you can use a Virginian Arms Dragoon? Just an uneducated thought.

I just bought a Ruger flattop 5.5" .44 Special. Added a RDW original #5 gripframe, Power Custom trigger and Bisley hammer, and a #5 basepin. It isn't a clone, but in many ways is improved. Ruger's rear sight is fully adjustable. Plus there's no functional reason to have Elmer's #5 latch when you can buy a Belt Mountain. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time" What did that set you back total? I must have the case color hardening. That is a Beautiful gun.

The blue job is impressive, as well as the grips.

Wyoming Armory did the bluing and case hardening: www.wyomingarmory.com/services.htmlThey charged around $200 for the job plus return shipping. And their turnaround was 30 days at the time (done around 2 years ago). Ronnie Wells sent me the walnut grips. They came from Lee Jurras' estate. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Only problem is that its an 8 hour drive across Texas and Id rather take an azz whuppin than ever be in Houston.
