Pretty sure it was a hundred bucks for me, in Ohio, but that's up to the person(s) conducting the training.
It is going to vary widely by state and locality, I'm sure. In Ohio, there is a training requirement of XX(?) hours, most of which, I believe was intended to be "classroom" time, which is a long time to cover what they were supposed to cover. It's been several years now, and may have changed. A couple local deputies did this one their own time on weekends. There were a few trainers who got into trouble for fudging on the time and everyone who had gone through their "course" had their CCW license revoked. Make sure you check out whoever is doing the training.
We got a bonus; after the classwork, one of the long-experienced/retired deputies took us to his place, where he had a nice range set up and ran everyone through not just familiarization, but numerous drills. He spent time on each individual and had others observe while not actively shooting. It was cool to see not just younger guys, but also several women, some in their sixties, working the drills and putting holes where they needed to be.

In IL, if you have hunters safety education, then 4 hrs less classroom, veterans 8 hrs less .

It’s all new here in NY since the surpremes struck down the restrictions. The state is requiring 16 hours classroom and two hours range time. Local gun stores are running the classes. 800 bucks seems like the agreed price the lgs have agreed to….. state has no say on what to charge. I’m disappointed in our gun community, that decided 800 was the going price……

Not the 1st time LGSs stick it to their customers. There was one in Delaware who advocated FOR a universal background check bill requiring all secondary transactions to go through an FFL. The fact they could charge whatever they wanted for each of those transactions was the reason. There are FFLs here who advocate for banning online ammo sales. Wonder why....

Saw $650 the other day. Still shamefully high.
When I was upstate last month hunting I saw a flyer somewhere for the class, but failed to get the details. Love to know what the price was, and if people up there are getting gouged like down here.

I thought NY wasn’t going to make the class mandatory upstate. Only in NYC and maybe the Hudson Valley(just part of NYC). I know there are no intentions to offer classes in my county.

I don't know honestly. I was in a Stewart in Cobleskill and saw the flyer on the bulletin board. I can't remember now where the class was being held though, Cobelskill, Oneonta or somewhere in between.
The two non NYC counties on long Island (three jurisdictions) require it.
The local gun stores we're supposed to "support because they're local" are bending people over.

Nebraska the class is usually a hundred bucks (up to the instructor) and then the state fees for the license and background check are another hundred. Lot's of ranges offer free or discounted classes to members. I got the class for free and it was I believe 6hr class and 2hr range. Class was basically state laws and range was being able to hit the broadside of a barn from the inside. First permit was for 5yrs and I think renewals are for 3yrs for $50 which you can do online. Don't be like my son, if you miss the renewal date you have to take the whole class over again.

Just the class, not state fees run $100-150 locally here in Northwest Louisiana. I know of 3 that also offer snacks drinks and lunch included in that price. Or they did, not so sure now.

No training requirement for CCW permit in Alabama. Open carry has been legal for a while. On the verge of constitutional carry. Working as a range manager, range safety officer, NRA instructor, and NRA training counselor for the last 10 years, people who care get training. Most do not. Women make good students. Men generally think they have a natural ability and DO NOT make good students.

Seems like the class was $60 here in my area of Texas. I thought that was high, because it really didn't amount to much. Two(?) hours in the classroom, a written test, then 50 rounds on the range, from 7-15 yards. It's more of a 'check the box' kind of thing than it was real training.

Washington state is a shall-issue state with no requirement for a course to get a concealed pistol permit. However you now need a class - no designated hours but designated topics - to purchase a semi-auto rifle of any kind. (It is a recent law - no comment on the politics, other than it’s aimed at ARs, etc.) My local small town police department put excellent classes on for the public at no charge. They said they wanted to make it easy for people to comply. It was part legal education and part safety. But I live in a rural area, not Seattle metro. Seattle PD did not hold free classes.
