Been some years now, and so no idea of current pricing. Here on the forum, NathanHale was my instructor and became a friend. Course then was two long days, a whole weekend. Basic course plus components wanted by the state. NathanHale had a county prosecutor talk us thru what may follow a shooting, after the flashing lights show up to ? Then range time. Across the state, heard of push back, seems people didn't want to give up a whole weekend and other venues made enough edits to fit in a long Saturday. The renew was additional class but down to a visit to the courthouse for fresh license and of course fee, but reasonable. What I don't like, initially we were required to give a thumb print. Later upon renewal a full set was wanted. I don't like being in the computer, treated as a felon before it may ever happen. We know the data of who got licensed was leaked to the press, or spent some time as public record. I would wish that all took a course, please consider it a bare minimum. I searched out further courses beyond basic. Also suggest at least a Basic 1st Aid class. Other, further thougths, another time.

NC was $100 and 8 hours of classroom study then shoot 50 rounds, 5 at a time, at several distances to qualify. No rimfires allowed when I qualified. But that may have been my club's rule.
Next up is to do it all over again in SC. I haven't yet looked into the requirements for that state.

It is really great that the agreed upon price in NY is now $800...that is "discrimination" based on income for a Constitutionally guaranteed right.... I think I heard last night that this newest law was just invalidated by a judge....
In NH it was "if you had a pulse"...not even any finger prints allowed. Those departments that took it upon themselves to fingerprint and photograph and even interview were told by Police Standards and Training to cease IMMEDIATELY. Was a great way to end up in a lawsuit...
Now we are Constitutional Carry...so if you are just breathing you can carry...the way it should be.

Got the class for free since I spent close to 10 grand with them that year.

Well, if they have a pulse, a bit loose for me. If convicted of a violent felony, rather they not pack. If they want to break another law, I know, sigh.. IMHO.

Washington states semi auto mandate is ridiculous. There is no class outline, the state doesn't even verify you've taken a class. You only have to check a box stating you did, wait the mandatory 2 weeks and pay the state a $25 fee. A feel good tax wrapped in public safety paper!

That's just for the mandatory class to carry, not with getting a license to purchase/posses. Getting your license will run you an additional hundred bucks, maybe two depending on where you are. Some counties are cheap, some not. That's after you wait close to two years (again in my county currently).

I’d hold off on CCW class requirement for NY. NY is supposed to be answering, to SCOTUS today. Multiple judges have ruled the CCIA unconstitutional. NY giving SCOTUS the middle finger isn’t sitting well with the justices. The other issue with them classes, aside of them price gouging. State won’t except NRA training for the requirement. I believe it’s supposed to be taught by DOJ certified instructors, from what I seen, vast majority of the instructors are law enforcement, or prior L.E.O. stuffing there pockets. This ruling should come fast, because of the amount of states that’ll be affected.

Then I started getting antsy thinking I better get in the queue before they shut it down while the courts figure it out…. Sad that this state continues to try to make felons out of law abiding folks, by constantly making legal possessions illegal…… sad

I got an email this morning from Bill @ 782 about classes... $575 So the prices are coming down. (still too much)
My intention was to wait it out as well, but an opportunity to take it with people I know, taught by people I know popped up, so I put my name on the list for next month. My thought was is there's some legal turnabout great, good news for all, I took one for the team and at least my money went to someone I know.
NYS Penal laws's definition:
* 19. "Duly authorized instructor" means (a) a duly commissioned officer of the United States army, navy, marine corps or coast guard, or of the national guard of the state of New York; or (b) a duly qualified adult citizen of the United States who has been granted a certificate as an instructor in small arms practice issued by the United States army, navy or marine corps, or by the adjutant general of this state, or by the national rifle association of America, a not-for-profit corporation duly organized under the laws of this state; (c) by a person duly qualified and designated by the department of environmental conservation under paragraph c of subdivision three of section 11-0713 of the environmental conservation law as its agent in the giving of instruction and the making of certifications of qualification in responsible hunting practices; or (d) a New York state 4-H certified shooting sports instructor.

Required to take a course to apply for one. What are the requirements and what was the cost? Thanks I did it this weekend, class given by people I know. If you haven't and decide to do it let me know. Can't really save you any money, but at least can point you towards a good experience.

Thanks for the offer, I really appreciate it! I took the class the first week of January at dsi . Class was great and in the end I thought money well spent. I also signed up for the non- resident Utah carry permit that’s going to be given the third week of this month! Ps seems there’s a 2 month wait before Suffolk calls you in for the actual license……

$27 here in Pa…maybe a little more…county sheriff prints it on the spot, you just fill out what is (generally speaking) same paperwork as 4473 and …it’s issued. So, in a nutshell, If you can buy a gun, you can carry it concealed…seems reasonable enough to me. Renew every 5
I think those states that mandate classes have lobbyists from 5.11 … it’s how they sell all those 42W x 30L tactical pants each year to the trainers.
