I know many of you have a deep admiration for the Security Six so I thought I'd share one. This is the first handgun my dad purchased in 1979 from the local Trap House. It's a heavy barrel 4" that came with target grips. He had a local gunsmith at the time, Brock's Gunsmithing, do a trigger job, a new orange front sight insert and install a Bullseye spring. Being an early gun the original trigger was serrated so he had it ground down smooth for a combat trigger. He also polished the sides of the trigger and hammer to help slick up the action. He changed the target grips out for a set of Badger Goncalo Alves grips. And now it wears a Vortex Venom 3 MOA red dot with one of my Griffon Hill mounts. Out of all the guns he owns and has owned, this one has probably been shot the most.
On a side note if you have ever seen the movie 'Home of the Brave' from 2006 with Jessic Biel and Samual L Jackson, it was filmed in Spokane, WA and Brock's Gunsmithing was the gun store featured in the movie.

A good strong revolver... Gun writer Massad Ayboob once stated if he were limited to one handgun it would be a 4" Security Six..... Had one that shot 158gr hard lead bullets "lights out". Gave it to my Shiras moose guide...

I had a 4" that I have kicked myself 1000 times for parting with. I got the bright idea to run it over a chronograph and it was 150fps slower than the 6" gun. It was a tack driver. I wish I had it back. Super strong guns.

I picked up a blued 4" Security Six a few weeks ago. And just made a deal on a Dillon 550 to feed it. Looking for a Speed Six now.

I bought a 4" stainless in 1979. I was 13 at the time. It took me a long time for me to save up the money to buy it. I started handgun hunting shortly thereafter and dumped a bunch of hogs with it. I was using Keith style 158gr semi-wadcutters (gas-checked) that I cast using 50% wheel weights and 50% pure lead. They worked perfectly. The load was 11.6 grains of Herco pulled from my dad's 1967 Lyman manual.

I do love mine. Shoots to point of aim, feels right, what's not to love?

There are a few people on other forums that might say I am a Six series aficionado (Security Six, Police Service Six, Speed Six). I currently have 44 in my collection and am still looking for the rare/oddball ones. My first one was a 6" Security Six bought in 1973.
Junebug, if you're looking to sell those Herret grips, let me know how much you want.
