I have a 4” stainless Security Six that was built in 1979, I got it for around $400, it came with the original box, paperwork and the shipping sleeve that goes over the box. I was pretty sure it hadn’t been fired (other than the factory as it had fouling on the face of the cylinder on 2 chambers). I installed a set of XS sights with front tritium big dot and a set of Pachmayr grips because I like the back strap of the grip frame covered.
I had a 6” Security Six but gave it to my father in law.
I also have 2 Speed Six’s, both chambered in .38spl but I was able to buy a .357 cylinder and install it in one of them.
The 38spl Speed Six sports Pachmayr compac grips and is my usual summer carry around our farm. .357 without ear protection is just too much, but 38spl isn’t too bad.
I’ll try to take and post some pics of the family of Six’s

Ya know it's funny, I don't like vent ribs or full underlugs but that Cougar is the best looking double action revolver I have ever seen.

My first two decent DA revolvers (after owning a rossi) were 4" stainless and 4" Blued Security Sixes "Made in the 200th year of American Liberty" models.
After reading McGivern's book a friend of mine and I shot in a decommissioned rock pit at aerial targets (beer cans) and the same targets at 100 yards with a high 90% hit rate. I sold the blue because it suffered rust from my extremely salty skin and later on the stainless for some S&W which I probably still have today.
I had a few brief buys into the GP and the up leveled bigbore redhawk but the smiths just handled and shot better for me. I still wish I'd have held onto those Security sixes, the GP was never the gun a Security six was to me at least.

I gotta agree with the new guy, gnappi.
I've got a gorgeous GP100 with polished pins, cylinder release, trigger, and hammer. But... The Sixes are just the sweet spot for weight, fit, finish, accuracy, and looks. Sometimes, improvements aren't improvements.

I GOT THIS 2.75" 357 MAG IN 1976 FROM THE ARMORER AT THE BORDER PATOL ACADEMY, WHICH WAS THEN LOCATED NEAR MY HOMETOWN. THE ARMORER WAS A BIG PROPONENT OF THE SECURITY SIX AND HE DID A QUICKIE TRIGGER JOB WHILE I WATCHED. STRUGGLED TO FIND AN ACCURATE LOAD BUT IT ALWAYS SEEMED TO DO BETTER WITH HEAVIER, e.g. 180gr, BULLETS. I TRADED THE GUN OFF BUT FORTUNEATELY GOT IT BACK. THE INTERIM OWNER PUT A W/O RS AND A WHITE RAMP FS ON IT. I ADDED THE SAMBAR STAG GRIPS. A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO I TOOK THE TIME AND DEVELOPED AN ACCURATE LOAD FOR IT USING A MISSOURI BULLET CO. PUG NOSE 180gr PC'ed BULLET. I POSTED ABOUT THAT LOAD ON HERE SOMEWHERE. PLENTY ACCURATE AND POWERFUL. UFORTUNEATELY FOR THIS REVOLVER, I JUST DO NOT USE 357's MUCH. I EXPECT TO PASS OWNING THIS FINE REVOLVER.
