Huey, I think I have one of those. I measured it and noted it was excellent dimensionally. I guess now I have to dig it out and shoot it… I believe I would Fermin. This one will never be hot rodded, but will definitely be shot. A certain guy who attempts to build custom revolvers told me I worry about dimensions and fitting too much. Possibly true, but it matters... I in fact own a couple of sixguns with factory tolerances that are splendidly accurate but for the most part tolerances matter and your concern is well founded.

I cleaned this gun today after spending the weekend determining it will shoot everything well. Like all guns, it liked some loads better than others.
The kicker for me is feeling good when I put it away in my safe. It irks me to know I'm putting a sub-par gun in the rack...

So is this one trade fodder? It was for the other guy. But, I think I'll hold on to it...

Hard to beat an N-frame .41 Magnum...doesn't beat the gun or the shooter near as bad as a .44 with full loads...
Have one 6" left in my .41 collection...a 1964 first year of production that was unfired in 1990 when I bought it at a gun show from an old farmer...he had bought it brand new and it never got fired because..."all my friends wanted to do was shoot black powder so I never got around to it"...

Love 57s. One of the most accurate S&W guns I ever shot was a 57. You did well on that one.

Guns like you have are impossible to find these days. Only way is if a collector passes away and his estate is sold off.

I have had a couple Model 57, and 657s over the years and should have kept at least one. I even tried the new “Classic” with the lock hole. Had a 657 Hunter with the unfluted cylinder but would love to find one like yours. Beautiful gun

I've been looking for a model 57 or even a nice 58 for several years to fill my 41 mag and S&W lust.
Earlier this year, I scored a United Sporting Arms Silverado in 41 mag and a Dan Wesson 741. Those are spectacular shooters and really got me hooked on the 41 Mag.
I keep reading about the model 57 being accurate beyond its brethren. If that is the case, it must be sweet.

Tolerances are perfect and it shows in accuracy...

Prescust....don't know where you have looking but "locally" you'll probably find one every few years... I travel New England and haven't seen a 57 or 657 but a few times in the last 5 years...GunBroker is about the only way to go...several nice guns have sold way under what they have been over the last 3 years.

I wish S&W would make a 5 shot Model 69 in .41 Mag, and 10mm for that matter too

I have a 1976 built Model 57 with the 8-⅜" barrel which I bought used a few years ago. Been shot a LOT, cylinder has some play in it, bluing pretty bad, but . . . it still shoots splendidly! My indoor range is maxed out at 18 yards, but I get plenty of sub-1" ten-shot groups with different bullets and powders. GT's wonderful 250 SWC HP goes into 0.74" for ten shots with 14.2 gr of Heavy Pistol and WLPs @ 1.705" for about 1230 fps. Shown here with a Camillus stockman from the same era.
