FOT THE LUGER AFICIONADOS, PICTURED IN THE ORIGINAL POST ABOVE IS A LAWRENCE BASKET WEAVE HOLSTER FOR THE 4" GERMAN LUGER (LAWRENCE MODEL 31B, HOLSTER SIZE 584) THAT I RECENTLY PICKED OFF OF EBAY. HOLSTERED IN THE HOLSTER IS A POST WWI COMMERCIAL LUGER IN 30 LUGER. ALSO PICTURED IS MY cache OF 30 LUGER AMMO AND A COUPLE OF LUGER REFERENCE BOOKS.
WITH ALL THE WWI AND WWII BRINGBACKS, THE COMMERCIAL SALES BETWEEN THE WARS, AND AT LEAST LAWRENCE HAVING A LUGER SPECIFIC LUGER HOLSTER, THERE MUST HAVE BEEN SOME LUGERS CARRIED AFIELD. NOW WITH APPROPRIATE LEATHER AND PLENTY OF AMMO (ACCUMULATED OVER MANY YEARS), IT MAY BE TIME TO GIVE THIS 30 LUGER DWM COMMERCIAL SOME FIELD TIME.
IN THE "GUN FIGHTING" CHAPTER OF "SIXGUNS BY KEITH", KEITH RELATES A SHOOTING AT THE CHICAGO STOCKYARDS WHERE AN "UNTRAINED AND TRIGGER HAPPY OFFICER" JUMPED TO CONCLUSIONS AND EMPTIED HIS 30 LUGER INTO THE BACK OF A NEGRO COWBOY, THE COWBOY LIVED LONG ENOUGH TO TURN AROUND, DRAW HIS 45 COLT SAA AND DRILL/KILL THE POLICEMAN WITH A HEART SHOT, AND PROVIDE DETAILS AND PAPERS TO THE AUTHORITIES RE THE OWNER OF THE CATTLE HE WAS MINDING.

Couldn't ever find me a Luger Luger so I made me a Glock Luger. Just managed to pick up some 90gr XTP's to try out, almost impossible to find the 93 gr factory bullets. Been an ongoing project, hoping to pick up steam again with the new projectiles.

I have a Luger 30 Luger with six inch barrel, I have a Browning Hi Power in 30 Luger, I have a Benelli B-80 in 30 Luger, and I have a 1911 in 30 Luger. I can't find a barrel in 30 Luger for my P-38. Been shooting that round for many years and I really like it.

I haven't hunted anything with it. My load is a TC 100 grain bullet that I designed and made a mold for, then later on had 45 2.1 draw it up and had a new mold made by a friend of ours that use to make molds. It's one of the more accurate pistols I own with that load. With the six inch barrel it gets some quite high velocities and the 30 Luger shoots flat like a rifle. Those that scold of the carbine Lugers with the stocks chambered in 30 Luger that have rear sights calibrated out to something like 800 meters should doubt hitting someone at that distance! A nice mod for the Luger is to barrel one in 38 Super. The pistol is quite up to handling and that very angled magazine easily holds them.

I actually like the 30 Luger better then the 7.2x25 Tokarev and it really kicks in it's heels.

Gone for sure are the days of my youth in Pittsburgh when you could buy bring-back Lugers all day long for $35-40.

Didn't Major Askins (The Colonel's father) try out the .30 Luger on wild horses and burros, back in the day? Seems like he was quite impressed with the performance of it, and the 7.62X25 Tokarev. IIRC, he made a comment about only the heavy loaded .44 Special was better at killing the horses/burros.

Have not fielded mine as of yet, but have read where some have used it for a finishing shot when hunting. I am not sure of the strength of the P-08 platform, however running it in a modern platform with 9mm pressures or possibly even +P I would think performance (for a .30 caliber) could be greatly enhanced. Wouldn't be a deer slayer, but a flat shooting small game getter.

Nice bunch of guns shown for sure.
I was going to mention the Ruger in .30 Luger but John beat me to it. Those spare barrels pop up from time to time.
