I’ve located a leathersmith who is willing to weave both a leather and paracord lanyard, I’ll post when they’re done. Thanks for the info Craig.

I like the speed six idea. If I were to do it myself, I think I would try a 3/16 - 1/4" ball end mill. Wore alot of dummy coeds in the Military. In the field I dummy corded everything in the field. For the clink clat sound, replace the swivel and clip with a heavy duty salet water swivel and a thin piece 2mm climbing type rope cord with a water knot. I remember those Army days where when going to the field I would put a dummy cord on anything I had to sign for . Pistol, starlight scope, binos, etc.

Here's the Bowen Lanyard that I prize. Seen attached to a prize that deserves it...

The paracord one is finished but I can’t post pics, the leather one is being made from Kangaroo leather, and getting the size and braid right is taking longer.

I get SERIOUS feelings of envy, lust, jealousy, greed, etc. every time I see that Bowen. Truly one of the most elegant, purposeful, serious and beautiful revolvers I've ever seen. Pains me that I don't own one just like it.

The new convertible .45 flat tops even have the right serial # placement so no searching. You might have trouble getting Roy to make the ivory grips though

Well, since I'm on the road working, I stopped by the leather store for lace and REI for 2, 3 & 4mm kernmantel rope/cord to use as a core and a book on braiding lace. Can't leave idle hands lie.
So first question, what do you attach the lanyard to? In the service we put our arm through the loop and then safety pinned the cord to our collar under the collar for garrison and either the same or looped around a belt. The mil lanyards were adjustable in length.

The leather lanyard gets picked up Monday, if someone wants to volunteer to post pics I’ll send them via email. The leather one is a two tone 4 plait or 6 plait I can’t recall for sure.

I figured that when you mentioned kangaroo lace. I watched a video on making those, fascinating the way they work out the taper on them.

Well, this is a rabbit hole. Tried an 8 plait with no core, not a happy face. Tried a 6 plait over a 3mm kernmantal (climbing type rope) core, better. .265 diameter. Gonna try a 6 plait over a 4mm core next. imgur.com/a/OM1HAriimgur.com/a/Hkey3Qr6 plaite over 4mm .320" dia (left) in comparison to 3mmx6P and 2mmx4P imgur.com/a/WQxcYzf

Because the larger diameter doesn’t fold or bend well, I’m looking at using a small paracord loop thru the lanyard ring and have the leather lanyard just go thru it, it will keep the clink and clang down and I think allow a smoother lift from the belt to aiming. The leathersmith, used a 1/4” diameter main loop and then put a larger diameter sleeve over that to allow for less digging into the neck of the wearer. Trapr
