edk, Absolutely. One needs to file (fine pillar file) almost to where your green line indicates. Then file and final sanding (with a backer) until you have the height and transition of the curves that you can be happy with. ALSO... Ronnie, can't wait to see the "BO TY #5" in full form. Looks awesome enough that I may have to buy another Blackhawk. (Just an idea - A Ruger New Vaquero (blued) "BO TY #5" grip frame with a S&W rear adj. sight, and of course a 2dogs front sight.)

Looks awesome enough that I may have to buy another Blackhawk. (Just an idea - A Ruger New Vaquero (blued) "BO TY #5" grip frame with a S&W rear adj. sight, and of course a 2dogs front sight.) ***** I’ll have to dig up photos of a brass Bison Finger Groove, to which I sanded a French curve to blend revolver RW grip frame to Blackhawk frame without altering the frame, and without having to shave down the backstop to make the blend. A French curve allows stretch Length of Pull (trigger to back strap) to your heart’s content----without creating a ditch netween frame and grip frame. Seems the hammer pin hump (“ears”) can vary between Blackhawks and SBH’s, not just between plough handle and Bisley. Ronnie and other smiths know all too well the labor of TIG building metal to then file it all down to blend grip-to-frame. I messed around with the French curve idea, probably messed up a grip frame, before seeing it as a path to keep preserve a high backstrap and avoid UGLY. Backstrap contour is important to consistent shot placement. I can handle a variety of arcs... but, some I can’t control. My hand can’t control the Freedom Arms M-97, especially in .45 Colt. Aside from solid frame construction, with the most compact action for POWER, a properly proportioned single action grip practices CONSERVATION of ANATOMY better than the hump-back double action. I tried to interest the Rugers in a Redhawk/Super Redhawk with single action grip contour (my drawing modeled the Redhawk). I love Redhawk cylinder lockup----no other double action comes close. We know repeat fire double action is faster with recoil hump. Against that, most of us shoot a big double action single action; some folk never shoot em DA. The Redhawk/Super Redhawk is a great concept, screaming to fit the shooter’s hand. If the Redhawk/SRH were available with single action grip, I’d carry it more, a lot more. Ronnie Wells’ grip frame have deflated some heavy recoil issues. That’s how effective a Ronnie Wells grip frame is. David Bradshaw
