Very nice Trapr! Can’t wait for the next installment. About ) years ago I took my S I L on a short one day pig hunt down in GA when he has stationed at Valdosta. No pigs came under my tree stand but they do have skeeters down there! I would love to go on a real pig hunt someday.

Robb, some of the Skeeters are as big as the hogs in Texas.....

Good reading. I carry a Security Six with Keith loads daily and it works well. My Maximum Blackhawk 7.5" with Miha's 359640 on havy charges of 4227 does much of my stand hunting. The bfr 500 Linebaugh with Accurate's 51-355H on Heavy Pistol for 1350fps handles following the dogs.

I'm hoping to one day find a place with excess hogs,, and low costs to hunt them, w/o traveling half way around the country. And of course,, being allowed to use a handgun!

On that subject, what would you consider reasonable cost to hunt free range hogs?? Handgun?? With basic accommodations??

On that subject, what would you consider reasonable cost to hunt free range hogs?? Handgun?? With basic accommodations?? Trapr IMHO some where between $150.00 and $300. a day depending on the guides services and meat handling. With the latter going to some place lots of hogs and someone to field dress, help load and a cooler to hang. A honest butcher to hire near by would be a plus ! The one last hog I shot on a game ranch was about 225lbs and I got about 40 lbs of meat from their recommended butcher and I threw it out as it as rancid. They carried out the Box of meat and put it in my cooler and covered it with ice. After I got home and saw what I got I called the ranch and spoke with the owner and he was Very apologetic and offered me a free hunt. I declined and said to guy that owes me is the butcher. Few days later the owner called me back and told me he had gone over to the butchers shop and found several hogs that his guide had brought over the night before laying on the concrete slab outside in the sun….
