I don`t know how many years now I`ve called and told "looking for a supplier".... Really sad situation for a decent 50 cal cartridge.

I was told last fall that there was a supply issue due to covid, and we just needed to wait a little longer.
One .500 JRH reamer and FA would be in business on the .50 cal again.
Sad.

can`t even form the shells from any belted brass out there... Really!!…..all this time I thought it was a normal belted case cut down to size. I never looked at the dimensions, that is a sad prospect. Trapr

Wont ever happen, there is some history between JRH and FA, not judging and I don't know the whole story but my understanding is this is a nonstarter from FA. Now the 500 S&W Special strikes me as a possibility but I have never heard of one being done on a FA, I'm guessing there is a mechanical reason for it...

The 500 Special Rim is too big for the FA Cylinder Ratchet...

Only glad that the one I purchased from a member here already had a .500 JRH cylinder. It did come with 120 .500WE cases that I'm sure will last me for the rest of the time I own it... Also purchased 100 JRH cases from Buffalo Bore... Between the two of those I'm set...
It is sad however whatever the story is...

I remember this discussion coming up a couple of years ago and FA poo pooing the JRH because they had an enormous supply of brass. My 83 is marked WE but came with a JRH cylinder. I was at the time tempted to get a proper WE cylinder..

What does someone, like Starline say ? If enough people ask.. Who has made it to date ? Considering you cant buy 38 special ammo now and I think it took like a 10,000 case order or so to get something made. You would be better off having a JRH cylinder made, cutting off and turning rims on 500 S&W cases.
