I ordered four sets of grips for three grip frames recently from Chad at Chigs Grips.
3-3/4" New Vaquero Sheriff's Model in 44 Special
- Ebony (not pictured) - American Holly 5-1/2" NM Flattop Blackhawk in 44 Special - Exhibition Grade Turkish Walnut 6-1/2" NM Single Six in 32 H&R Mag - Exhibition Grade English Walnut I traded a good number of emails with Chad. I specified all of my grips to have flat-bottoms and matte/satin finish. I showed him some pictures of grips that I had that I liked and included the thickness measurement that I prefer. He was great to work with and very accommodating.
I can highly recommend Chigs. I always say you can't beat a pair of SK stocks. I stand by that, but the value that Chad offers is unbeatable. His pricing is incredible and the lead time even more impressive. My grip frames probably spent as much time with USPS as they did with Chad. I suggest checking out the blanks he has available that are listed on his webpage; if you don't see what you want, email him. Since this is the Gallery, here are some pictures. Group shot: American Holly:
Turkish Walnut:
English Walnut:
Again, the flat-bottoms and uniform thickness is my preference so don't let those features turn you away. I do not know Chad and I am not affiliated with him in anyway. Just an honest review.

Most of my grips come from Chigs. I've never had any disappointment with them

Will do. He is also making the grips for my Ruger Flattop 10mm/.38-40 with Ronnie’s brass Potato Judge Jr grip frame. We have a gorgeous exhibition grade Desert Ironwood to match a custom knife I have. They should both look fantastic when he is done.

Yes, I did confirm with him that the finish he puts on the grips will allow the Holly to yellow.
The ebony looks great too on that stainless sheriff's model. But it can only wear one set at a time!

Agreed, Chad does a pretty good job on his grips. Especially for the price, I might add. I've been wondering what he uses for a finish - just in case I needed a touch up. Any idea? Shown below on my .45 flat top conversion, are Turkish walnut from Chig's. Sent him my grip frame, & turn around time was surprisingly fast.

I have not handled his grips, but looks like a finishing wax to me, which is easily repairable, I use Briwax, but the minwax would work as well

I'm going to revive this old thread because I just got a second set of grips from Chigs. So now I have some spalted maple and walnut. The spalted maple have all types of reds, greens, blacks and other colors in them. It is next to impossible to take a good picture, in the sun they are amazing, artificial light is difficult.
