So I took a rifle to a semi local gun smith / retail shop that advertises “5000 guns on hand”… for a custom chambering…would you believe only 2 non rimfire single action cartridge guns in the whole place… they had 4-5 of the cast alloy 22’s, and 1-2 Italian revolvers and that was it for single actions… Stopped at Cabelas on the way home… not one cartridge single action in the place… Cabelas must have had 18-20 “new” compact 9’s Couldn’t get close enough to the handgun counter at the 1st place to see what they had for semi autos Got home, patted my 45 snubbie on my belt, and took comfort in the fact, that if I’m a Dinosaur… at least I’m a T-Tex

What you are seeing is what most buyers want. I have found the same situation in the bigger stores here.

The same here. Few Wranglers and GP100s in 357 Magnum.
I'm not in the market for anything, but...
It's sad.

Just very limited demand. I stopped looking at stores - just the one guy I know that has Rugers come in and out pretty frequently.
Funny though, if you’re looking at the online auction - pretty much all single actions sell and do so for a lot higher than I’d be willing to pay.

I'm just as safe now with my Chiefs special as I have been for the last 30 years of carrying it.

I find if I take a young person shooting and introduce them to a Blackhawk, show them what it can do, how accurate they are and what a therapeutic endeavor it is to just shoot and reload one………and then contrast that to the plastic wondernine they are shooting. I think at least it gets the wheels turning. Full dis-closure I also own plastic semi autos. Can’t carry a single action on duty for some of the jobs I undertake.

Yep I took my 13 year old when he was 11, shot A bearcat I think. Smiles galore. I bought a FA 97 in 22 cal and theoretical gave it to him. Shot it a few more times and loves it. I have Gemini custom Rugers, high end 1911, vintage colts and smiths and he does not even want to try them. I too enjoy the SA, don’t get as tired and I shoot better. My son recently asked me if he can spec out his own FA 97 and he did and ordered it thru First Stop in SD, should have it by July. I’m bit by the SA bug and nothing like sharing it with a loved one.

I’m just happy to have the 7 single actions I do. I was lucky and started buying revolvers in general around 5 years ago. If I had to buy what I have now it would cost me double of what it did. Gone seem to be the days of stumbling across a grail gun at an affordable price.

Well,,, not quite a dinosaur but definitely an older guy who prefers a good SA handgun over most guns. Yes,, I also enjoy my Contenders. A single, well placed shot,, especially at longer ranges seems to be quite pleasing. But,, I still haven't given up the hunt for more of them,, especially in odd & out of the normal places. Quite often,, you can uncover a good one here & there,, by judicious patience & looking. And,, when confronted by a younger person on a range,, who's "plastic fantastic" bottom feeder is his choice,, I politely ask him to shoot the 100 yd plates. Most often,, I get blank stares, followed by some excuse that they can't do that. I pull out a good SA,, calmly smacking steel,,, then let them try it. Wonder turns to smiles. Finally,, after they have been exposed to the beauty of a good revolver,, I ask if I can "try" their gun. I show them that with a bit of practice,, it too can hit at distance,, but also point out the difference in the authority at which MY SA whacks the steel,, over the little 9mm's they prefer. But,, I've been called old long enough to wear the title comfortably. In reflection,, maybe I've been ahead of the curve most of my life too.

I love the look on the faces of the tacticool shooters when they see exactly how fast a Mozambique drill can be ran from my service six. Then their mouths really drop open when I run it within a tenth second with the OM 6.5" 357.

But,, I've been called old long enough to wear the title comfortably. Yeah, moral outrage the first time you open the mailbox and find an AARP magazine with your name on it. Then you start growing into it. Heck, many that laugh at old people never make it. I think congratulations should be in order when you achieve that honor.
