i have some stabilized Dall and Stone sheep blanks available. in the pictures below you are seeing the back side of what will become the grip panels. the reason i'm not showing the top side of the panels is because the natural "bark" of the horn completely hides the grain till I start shaping the grips. #4 these are Alaskan Dall. they will work for the XR3, Birdshead and Bearcat shopkeeper. price for a set fit to your grip frame $625 #5 these are stone sheep. they will work for Bisley, XR3-RED, XR3, Birdshead, SBH, Bearcat shopkeeper. price for a set fit to your grip frame $675. #6 these are Alaskan Dall. they will work for Bisley, XR3-RED, XR3, Birdshead, Bearcat shopkeeper. due to the natural shape of the horn these will have bark in the finished grips. price for a set fit to your grip frame $575. Sold. #7 these are Alaskan Dall. they will work for Bisley, XR3-RED, XR3, Birdshead, SBH, Bearcat shopkeeper. if done for a bisley they will probably have a small amount of bark up at the top. price for a set fit to your grip frame $650. Sold.

Trapr Trapr, yes Sir, I’ve got two sets of blanks held back with your name on them. I believe you were still deciding which set you wanted to go with. and you’re right, that round butt set is pretty darn close to bearspray!

I've got a dumb question, but won’t know till I ask. On these types of grips are they slick in the hand or are they possibly like a set of satin wood grips?
I’ve got medium to large hands and slick feeling grips haven’t seemed to do well.

I've got a couple sets, & once finished, they are "grippier" than the same finished wood grips

The horn material will typically be finished smooth with a high gloss, which seams like it would be very slick in the hand - but it’s not. It resembles ivory, if you’ve ever handled it. Ivory, sheep horn, and buffalo horn finished smooth has a “tacky” feel - if that makes sense.

It makes sense, I’ve never handled ivory or horn grips. But if horns on cattle come close then I have a bunch of experience.

Maybe not polished but on the hoof, lol. The only single action grips I’ve handled are wood and a set of elk by Sack Peterson.
