Gallagher and Bowen have marked them as Magnums in thenn by past that I’m aware of. John used those blocks as well. I had two guns of his like that. He slotted all of them actually to look like screws on one of them.

I've seen and handled early guns from Jack Huntington that have the screw trigger block feature, also with pantograph frame marking

I sold to a guy in TN and have tried to find for years to try and get it back. It was a 4 5/8” gun with colt dovetailed style sight from Bowen installed. The other one I don’t remember the little details. The screw ones were used on CCH guns primarily because the soldered ones would come out during the heating process of course. John used soldered ones mainly in blued builds. I installed a screw block in one when I was at his shop last year actually. I still need to finish that gun.

Good point about the soldering breaking loose during the coloring process. Ive got a Linebaugh gun that had to go back to John after the owner sent it to Turnbull for coloring/carbona blue on his own. David has mentioned this problem in the past too.

I've only seen one of Gallagher's builds with the third screw, I'm guessing it was yours with the scalloped recoil shield. One of the prettiest guns I've seen. Always wanted to do one like that but have a gun that to me is visually pretty close. Never seen another of his with the third screw and figured it was the case color process that necessitated it.

To throw a fly in….this one obviously isn’t case colored…
I still believe its a Gallagher gun.

That gun did have scalloped shields and walnut stocks. Sure wish I could find it. I tried tracking it as recently as 6 months ago but all calls failed to deliver. He was a pharmacists in TN and all my leads fell flat last time. Oh well.

The. number stamping throws me for a loop,.......good grief.
Also, my Gallagher 500Max has scalloped recoil shield and screwed bolt, it was originally Cerakoted OD green and Black, I returned it to Gallagher for a redo in CCH and blue. Story I got from him was it was made for a friend of his that wanted a 500max but didn’t want to pay a lot, so it was Cerakoted to keep costs down. It’s pretty now.
