My FA97 is so tight that if I don't keep the cylinder face clean, it starts to drag on the barrel/forcing cone.

No high jack. Good info. It does have the rings. What do you suggest for cleaning? I have always wiped stainless cylinders with Birchwood Casey’s lead remover. Is that bad? Never never use lead remover I promise that will kill accuracy just butches cleaner I found works great !

Unless your using sandpaper I don't think you will round off the throats. Go ahead and use lead wipes and you will round them I guarantee it.

What about stretching the lead remover cloth over a hard backing? Only wiping square to the cylinder face
I do find it hard to believe that any type of cleaning (without power tools) with the lead remover wipes would round the throats but I'm leaning towards better safe than sorry. Good discussion either way.

So you're saying the 454 is actually a better all around caliber than my beloved 41 magnum.....well, you're probably right Dick

There both good calibers it just depends on what your doing with them I've been using my 45 win mag cylinder for the most part a lot easier on the old hands !

So you're saying the 454 is actually a better all around caliber than my beloved 41 magnum.....well, you're probably right Dick I’m not gonna argue that subject, especially since I’ve never even shot a .454, much less owned one. Ain’t nothing in East Texas that a .41 won’t kill graveyard dead, but I can say the same about my .44s and .45s. If I were going to elk hunt with a handgun I would probably get a .480. From what I’ve gleaned from these pages, that would make more sense for me. YMMV
