I just got my first Freedom Arms Model 83 .454 Casull with a 2x Leupold scope mounted. All thanks to a member on here. I can’t wait to shoot it. Here is a quick pic I took in the truck in the parking lot of my dealer

They don't make anything that isn't top of line...

Here is a quick pic I took in the truck in the parking lot of my dealer ***** Excellent example of a practical hunting revolver. The old Leupold Vari-X II 2x19mm EER (Extended Eye Relief) is a classic in scope development. Which should not have been discontinued. A single upgrade of repeatable micro-click adjustments... along with a couple of reticle options----1) a simple mil-dot to index windage & elevation, and 2) German #4 reticle with thick square posts @ 6 o’clock, 3 & 9 o’clock----to avail the last shooting light at dusk. While the Leupold Dual Dovetail mount may have fallen out of favor, I’ve found nothing its its performance afield on hard kicking rifles and revolvers to criticize it. It does not permit lateral adjustment of the ring to compensation misalignment caused by lousy manufacturing, but neither does JD Jones’ T’SOB 3-rings arrangement. With scope set forward to butt turret against the forward ring, the turret acts as a recoil shoulder to prevent scope-slide. A scope which could be damaged from this practice should never have been made in the first place. Applied to a revolver, the word “tight” often implies the revolver is accurate----without any proof. Tight is not a synonym for accurate. A revolver is an orchestra of dimensions. A revolver with a terrible barrel and louse chamber-to-bore alignment can be made to feel tight. Freedom Arms launched into production of Dick Casull’s revolver, dubbing it the Model 83. Freedom Arms held to Dick Casull’s exacting dimensional package and, by all my experience, has maintained its Swiss vault precisoion throughout its production history. I am aware of no ohter manufacturer which holds such consistency. David Bradshaw

NICE one.
I own just one myself,, and about the only difference I see is your barrel is ported. I added a different scope,, but it's still a solid, accurate handgun.
Now,, go enjoy that fine piece of machinery!

You may pay more, but you cannot have better.........Enjoy. That's the pinnacle of revolver refinement as far as build quality.

It looks new was it unfired ? Do you know how to properly clean it ? There are a couple things that can destroy the accuracy like the front of the cylinder throats must be kept sharp no scrubbing with anything that can round them and the obvious crown I only use pull thru cleaning ropes. Butches bore shine with a nylon brush around the forcing cone area works great. What bullets you plan on shooting and loads ?

Whenever I want to buy a used freedom arms revolver I always ask for a pic of the front of the cylinder if it has the dark carbon rings around the throats it's a sign of proper cleaning if it's super clean it usually means they scrubbed off the carbon with a abrasive and rounded off the cylinder throats not always but a possibility I know because I'm one of them many years ago who did it and he had to clean up the front of the cylinder on the cnc for me then the accuracy came back just thought I'd share that sorry to high Jack your thread.

No high jack. Good info. It does have the rings. What do you suggest for cleaning? I have always wiped stainless cylinders with Birchwood Casey’s lead remover. Is that bad?
