I have started work on book #10: "John Taffin's Book of Single Action Sixguns". Tentatively we will have 75 chapters with Brian Pearce doing about 15 of them. I could use some very good pictures of BFRs and especially those chambered in long cartridges as well as the standard ones. Thanks for your help. GOOD SHOOTIN' AND GOD BLESS, JOHN

This is my 500 JRH... it has a Fermin Garza front sight... but maybe too many brand names in the pic??? I received my finger groove wood grips for the plow handle on my 10" 45-70... could do up a similar picture ( I should anyway ) before the barrel gets cut down...

Taffin, here is my BFR bisley 7.5" in .454 casull. Currently shooting heavy .45 colt loads consisting of a GT 385 cast HP, starline brass and a nice dose of H-110 for an average of 1289 fps. Holster is a Triple K brand sold by MRI. The block of wood is ever so slowly turning into grips when I have time in Circassian Walnut burl.

My 45-70 with the wood grip that Magnum Research sells for the plow handle... another of Fermins extra tall front sights pictured, to install when the barrel gets shortened... this one will be cut to match the length ( more or less ) of the ejector tube, for a little better balance... this one was an unfired new old stock purchased from a private party this summer... had rubber grips marked for Super Blackhawk, & Ruger Logo rear sight, & still wears the original stainless Super Blackhawk Hammer ... & now wearing a Leupold Red Dot Tube sight, with Butler Creek flip open scope caps, on the factory BFR scope mount base...

It sure looks better. I've shot the BFR banana. It works well enough but in my opinion looks terrible. The Huntington reshape not only works, it has beautiful lines. I forgot to note, the .50 Alaskan shown above has the Huntington backstrap. And it takes 585's @ 1,500 fps. Our options will get vastly expanded when Ronnie Wells releases his line of BFR gripframes. I have a .450 Marlin that'll get the new Martin XR-H. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"
