Some prefer high contrast but I am personally not a fan of white grips on blue guns. Now nickel is another story.
Yellowed ivory looks better to me than white ivory for blue guns, that John Wayne look. Stag is very nice. Heck, I like the black plastic grips that come standard on a Colt blue/color cased gun, why even bother trying to upstage that nice color cased finish? You're just apt to make it all look too "busy", like a man in a striped suit, striped shirt, and striped tie.
What are some other not white grip options. Pics most welcome.

I like that wood, source?
Nice stag too.
Ivory is nice, I just personally think it looks better on nickel or stainless guns.

I've always been a fan of straight grain, low gloss/matte walnut: Sometimes plain does look better. -Lee www.singleactions.com

...and I agree. "Aged" white looks better than pure white in my opinion. Not a fan of when it turns pure yellow, but slightly aged like this set of elephant ivory works for me: -Lee www.singleactions.com

I don't quite understand your point. You're saying you don't understand why people like what they like? Thinking from your point of view, I guess every car made should have plain black vinyl upholstery in it. People like what they like, there is no explaining it. If everybody liked the same thing there would be no need for custom grip makers. I like blued grip screw hardware in holly grips, even on a stainless gun. I guess that makes me a raving maniac. Being a grip maker, I get to see things in person that other people wouldn't consider as a good thing just because of what is considered "proper" by general consensus..

I love those smoky stags on the new frontier Colt.

I was going to type: "Gee, that's a beautiful gun"and them I scrolled down and there were more and more and more. Some exceptionally nice examples. Whitworth, that's your Huntington 475, I think. As far as form, how close is it to a Bowen Nimrod? Very, very nice!

I like Amboyna Burl. My friend Terry Murbach refers to it at AAA grade fancy plywood!

I'm not sure how you read that into it, some prefer blondes, some brunettes. I understand and respect that.

I like walnut: I also like yellowed grips such as these yellowed American Holley grips by CLC Custom grips: I don't like the bed sheet white ivory or pseudo ivory grips. I like natural ivory that will age, or the old micarta that will age. I think nickled or stainless looks better with walnut or ebony and I don't care for the gaudy types of wood either. Joe
