Hi guys,
I wanted to get some input on the Rock Island Armory 1911s in 10mm. I had one in the past in .45 ACP and it was fine... but it hated anything beyond ball ammunition. I ended up selling it. Currently, I have 3 1911s. I have a Springfield Armory Range Officer in .45 ACP that I got years ago and is both accurate and rock-solid reliable. I bought a Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded, also in .45 ACP about 2 years ago and it is just as reliable, but a little less accurate. It still has good accuracy and I chalk this up to variation in production. I have since converted it to .460 Rowland. I also have a Citadel Government 1911. To my understanding, these are made at the same RIA factory. And it is very impressive for the money. It's as accurate and reliable as my Range Officer and almost as accurate as my brother's Dan Wesson! My brother really hates that given the difference in price.
I have heard the RIA 1911s have come a long way. What do you fine gentleman think about their 10mm 1911s? I've heard a few well known names speak highly of them.
As always, thank you for your time.

I had an "Officer's Model"-sized 45 from RIA a few years ago. I swear I paid under $400 for it new and was really expecting it to be a turd, but I had to see for myself. It was one of the best 1911 clones, or 45 Autos in general, that I ever owned. Extremely reliable, in fact, the only hitch I remember was when I seated some 200 grain SWCs too long and one would almost but not quite chamber completely.
I felt the gun was very well made and was happy with it. I don't have it now because it was intended to be a CCW and it was just too heavy - all steel, drug my pants down. Back to carrying Bulldogs.

I have a 10mm Rock Island. I have ZERO complaints about mine. I also have a Kimber TLE/RLII and the Rock with run with the Kimber all day at half the money.
20 Years ago, I got a Rock Island turd. That was 20 years ago. I have had the new RI pistol and the Kimber for about 5 years.

My box-stock 10mm GI Standard runs like a top with the factory magazine. I have had *very* poor reliability results with aftermarket magazines from Wilson Combat and Chip McCormick.
The pistol is more than worth its price. I suggest picking up a couple of extra factory mags if you can.

I appreciate all of the insights guys. Sounds like I need to buy one. Now, how to do this without ruffling the wife's feathers...

I also picked up 3 more magazines. Found the stock Metalform mags with the rubber bumper on eBay. Got 3 of them for $81.

It will arrive tomorrow according to tracking, but I will be working past when the LGS closes. I feel your pains! That's usually when I have to stay late or get sent out in the field! Then half the time I get delayed through the weekend! LOL! Good luck with it, I wish they would do a nickle GI in 10mm, or a single stack longslide or do they?

...they do make a SS longslide...and a double.
Had one of the Combat Commander size guns for several years. It did a FTF the first round and after that never missed a beat. Trigger was 4.7# and was VERY crisp with no takeup. Only reason I sold it was the bushingless bull barrel threw the balance off for me.
Bought it for $505 back about 2017 and sold it last summer for $860...very hard to find model right now...
