While on DA conversions, can the Security Sixes be built into 41s? I have wondered this as well, there is a lonely security six down stairs that would make a great .41 spc.

I had considered a GP-100 conversion until Ruger came out with their 10mm version.
Mine is more accurate than most customs. Adding the TK Moon Clips allows long seating of bullets and impressive performance.
It killed any inclination I had to do the conversion.

Maybe I could get a 357 barrel rebored?

Is there a downside to shooting the 41 specials in a 41 magnum? Other than the carbon ring? Or would I be better off just downloading the 41 mag? As the original intent was just to make sure 357 didnt go into an old 38, so not necessary I guess.

I don't know as I have never fired a.41 spl in a magnum. All of my .41spls have cylinders that are too short to use real Keith style or the longer LFN or WFN and heavier for caliber bullets if they were magnums. I don't think it would be any different than in 44s or the .357. Someone will chime in with better info and more experience.....

Well, maybe not the best idea in an OM gun and in that case it makes sense. But, in a NM gun it's not an issue to chamber for a magnum. In fact the .41 magnum is the most potent round that you can put in a 6 shot cylinder in the medium frame guns. Not poking sticks, I own both.

Bushog, will the new model mid frame chamber a .41mag with a true Keith style bullet crimped in the groove? I know the new model has a slightly longer cylinder but is it that long? I'm not talking about your trick Bowen with the Extra-Long cylinder that fills the whole frame..........

Stayed on the fence so long that Bob's (RJM52) advice become sensible.
The barrel will be cut today at 6".
It'll be different if nothing else.
Thanks to all for their input...

My NM mid-frame 41 mag will not accept a Keith bullet in a magnum case crimped in the crimp groove. It just barely accepts the Keith bullet in a 41 spl case crimped in the groove.

This is an excellent post and exactly why I'm building this one in 41 Special.

My first efforts will involve both versions of the 215 grn GT Hollow Point Bullets.
But, do agree that there are many fine bullets available.
