Go 6.5!
It'll look and handle great Especially with the tapered barrel

I think so too. I've got to hold a couple built like I want and they point like a Luger.
It's my goal to replicate this feel. Should have paid more attention to detail. But, I'll revisit these builds before mine starts at the end of May.

I really like shorter barrels on SAs with regular GFs like 4 3/4 and down. That said, I have a no-name custom OM .357 6.5" with a re-bored barrel and chambered in .41spl. I was really surprised by the balance and shoot-ability of this combo. Your Clements sounds nice. My first .41spl was a S&W 686 that Mr Clements made for me in 05, I think. That was the trigger for the first run of Star-Line .41spl brass. I was going to have the Ruger shortened but have bought another with a birdshead GF and a shorter barrel. I also have a NF at Alan Hartons being transformed into a 4 3/4" .41spl. I will probably keep the 6.5 as is. Congrats on your coming CCG custom.......

They do have appeal. I'm more of a 40 Caliber fan, but the 41s are a nice balance too.
I'm eyeballing a 215 grn GT Hollow Point at 1200 fps with Longshot Powder.
We'll see how she does when the build is complete.

I loaded up a large supply of 205gr SWC over 14.5gr of 2400 and a lesser run of 215gr SWCBB machine cast over 13.5gr of 2400. These are very close to .41mag territory and less pleasant than the 7.5gr PP loads That I have settled on for my every day using loads.

I still use more Unique and 2400 than any other powders. I've seen 2400 crowd 1400 fps with a 210 grn from the 41 Special.
I'll probably go with a lower power/Noise load, but who knows.
Everyone has been great to make suggestions and share ideas. I've allocated two weeks to modify the final work order.

This is a little bit of a high-jack but......
The 686, GP100 and other .41 size frames do make nice .41spls re-bore of barrels and chambering of cylinders is all that is necessary and they do make holster guns for the kind of things that larger frames have always been used. They may be an answer to a question not asked but I really like mine. That said the mid sized SA is probably the most versatile and useful platform for the .41spl. JMHO-YMMV

Does anyone else do .41 Special conversions, now that Mr. Clements is retiring?
GP-100 or a 586/686 would be my preference, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at mid frame New Vaquero.

While on DA conversions, can the Security Sixes be built into 41s?

I know it's psychological, but just seems like it belongs in a Colt, Colt Clone or Midframe Old Model.
