Cannon, Spokaneguns was the shop started by Ed Christenson. His wife helped and did some beautiful inlays with wire on some grips that I saw on a friends gun. They divorced and the next I knew of them was at a gun show and Vern Ewer was in the picture. Eventually Vern moved to the tri-city area and went to work at Hanford while doing gun work on the side. I have seen references to him in some of Glen Fryxell's articles. Vern built three guns for me during that time period (1977-83).

I don't know if anybody is still thinking about this thread, but I want to post another update - I got my gun back on Friday, from the shop I dropped it off at in mid May. I won't name them again here, if anybody really cares the name is back in my original post. The job was not done. Some of this is my speculation, but it appears to me that they lost my gun for months, while converting their system from paper tags to a computer inventory. I called them repeatedly, which prompted a frantic hunt for my gun, then I went in and demanded it back. Very disappointing to have the gun out of my hands for six months and not have any progress at all.
I know I said in a much earlier post that I like to do all the work I can myself, even if it's not perfect - well, this is why. I'll try to get the project back underway and post more updates soon.

That's never any fun...hope you can finally get it done right by someone else...
Have had the same thing happen to me.. Had a 6" 57 in a very good shop who have built very nice 1911s for me. Simple cut to 5" project...after a year and a half of excuses I took the gun back. Brought it to another smith and was back in my hands perfectly done in two weeks...
