Re-reading this thread and thinking.. 'There was a time when I could do that at 25 yards." Pre internet and digital cameras, I never thought so save or take any pictures. lol Why would you? The only thing I have that's even close is a now 16 year old target. Shot with a Ruger Buckeye in .38-40, offhand at 25 yards. I was working with a new bullet and s freshly scrubbed barrel. I only took the picture to show how many shots it took to "foul" the barrel and start grouping again. Even this was taken well after "the good old days" when I was in my prime. Like I tell the guys I shoot with now.. "No really, I used to be a really good shot." lol

CAS
I would say if you could do that on very consistent basis you could have won nearly every NRA Bullseye match in existence.

This only supports my theory that guns don't want to be clean.

CAS I would say if you could do that on very consistent basis you could have won nearly every NRA Bullseye match in existence. I always shot magnums and things with decent recoil better than my bullseye guns. I chalked that up to lack of follow through and lack of discipline. lol

I appreciate how real this forum is. When I first got into singleactions all I knew about them was from various old forum postings found through web searches. I was disheartened by what I thought was my own limitations versus what people said they were able to do. After a few years of shooting at least once a week and comparing what I do with shooters at my local range outside Tyler TX, I realize I'm actually pretty decent. I appreciate you real shooters. Thanks for helping keep it fun!

Glad to see guys still trying this . And it really doesn't matter if we can do it or not, it only matters that we try, and have fun trying! Some fine shooting by all.

Shooting a small group is nice and I was happy with my effort, but I'll ask you to go back and look at Mr Keith's shot target. I don't believe he shot a small group, centered on the spade. I believe he placed individual shots around, inside the spade, to "remove" the spade. A whole nother thang..

I believe he placed individual shots around, inside the spade, to "remove" the spade. A whole nother thang.. From Webster Dictionary, Definition of group (Entry 1 of 2) 1 : two or more figures forming a complete unit in a composition went there as a group 2a : a number of individuals assembled together or having some unifying relationship a study group b : an assemblage of objects regarded as a unit I think regardless of his intentions, and those intentions we will never know, but one can always assume what his intentions were, because actually knowing would require getting into his mind to actually know what they were, and now that he is deceased that will be impossible. It winds up that he has a group of shots on a playing card any way one want to interpret it. It is good to ponder on things, even if we will never know the answer.
