I see a short 480 has popped up on Gunbroker. Are they starting to trickle out again, or is this the seller that often lists (auto re-lists) things they don't actually have? I know that was an issue with the 44 Special Flattops and the one company.
When Ruger came out with the 480 I said I'd buy one if they ever put it in a Blackhawk. I still haven't, but plan to remedy that soon.

If this one would've been a 6.5", I probably wouldn't have went after it. It had been at my local dealer's place for a while before I decided it had to be mine, and I certainly don't regret it.

Good video! I picked up a .476” lee sizing die on ebay and it wouldn’t take a .474” pin gauge. What do your throats measure?

I've watched that video a few times. Didn't notice it was your's. I have a 6.5" that I still have not had a chance to shoot. Should remedy that in the next few days.

I sure like mine. Like you I didn't really start out looking for a 480 but I had a bunch of brass from an enabler here and right after that I found a great deal on one at Cabelas that had a slight blemish in the finish. Got a good discount and went home with it. It now wears a set of buffalo horn grips from Zane. I sure like the 480 and two of my favorite bullets are the 400 grain Lee SWC and the Lee 400 grain RFN. They were the first tow molds I got and they are both very accurate. I've since added several more molds but haven't had time to test any other bullets. Yet.

Shot it for the first time today. It's going to be a real shooter when I get the thread choke fire lapped out of it. This was with factory Hornady 325 grain JHP's. Not quite ready for the Elmer Keith challenge. My eyes just aren't good enough anymore.

They are nice revolvers, mine still shaves rings of lead but shoots tiny little groups.

I have the 6.5" and 4-5/8". If it was for strictly hunting the 6.5" would definitely be my choice. As a companion / packing revolver when I have a rifle along, or doing outside work I prefer the shorter barrel. I do like the in-hand feel of the 6.5". Possibly a unpopular opinion, but I really love the 6.5" version. I love short barrels but for some reason I feel it's better suited, for me at least, with the 6.5".
