Yesterday I stumbled across a great deal on a Ruger SBH Bisley in 480 Ruger (6.5"). The original owner shot it exactly 5 times and said it wasn't for him (gave me the remaining 15 rounds of 325gr Hornady's). The last thing I needed was to add another caliber to the mix but what the heck! Now to get dies, brass, bullets, etc.

I have the same gun, and I love it. Congratulations! Mine has .478” throats, a tight b/c gap, and excellent fit and finish. The only problem, when I first got it, it would shave rings of lead between the chambers and the throats. I sent it to Doug Guy and he chamfered the transition to the throats. All is well now., and it shoots like a laser.

Congrats! Looking for the same thing. Love the whole configuration, especially the recessed chambers and extra long ejector. Should be a ton of fun tinkering, reloading for and shooting that beast.

400 gr Lee LBT style bullets at 900 - 1000 FPS is a great load that will take anything in The USA

I have one of those as well,, to go with the pair of Super Redhawks I own. Those things really shoot,, and are FUN when a newbie tries one.
I cast for mine as well, and I use a couple of different bullets. So far, ALL have been great. Although my MP Mold seems to be my favorite,, so the Lee mold is getting dusty.

I would love to have one of those. I’ve never seen one for sale anywhere locally though. I have the 454 version and it is the best made ruger I’ve ever seen. Tight cylinder gap, smooth forcing cone, shoots great and doesn’t lead. I love it more every day Actually it’s my avatar picture too

Very nice! I bought the 61/2 in 480 when they first came out. I sent it unfired to have a octagon erh length (5 1/2”) barrel ,FA front sight and action job! Still haven’t fired it sad to say.... I’m so embarrassed! Lol even have sixshots 385 gr painted bullets and 4 lbs of HS-6. Thinking that after the c-19 dies down I’ll send it down the road. I do have a good handful of customs, but really want to own a Freedom arms ! Sorry for the hijack

Congrats on the 480, I enjoy my 6.5". It can be loaded to take anything on the planet and can be loaded very mildly for most lower 48 critters. I like the lee 400gr bullet and the double crimp groove. Loading to the upper crimp groove with hs6 at 900-1000fps and the lower crimp groove I've hit 1400fps with 300mp, without any sticky extraction. Very versatile round.

I have that exact gun and it's quickly become my favorite gun to own, shoot and hunt with. I haven't done any modifications to it because it just works for me right out of the box! I love shooting Missouri's 340gr bullets and Sixhots 385gr HPs with HS6. Only other powder I've tried has been 2400 with speer 325gr bullets and they shot amazing as well.

Be sure to try the 375gr Montana Bullet Works bullet. I have ran it against heavier bullets and it penetrates as much, is very accurate and allows for over 200fps on top end loads.
