For me, it would be my Automag 4 in 10mm Magnum, if you're looking for a repeater... it'll be for sale soon My buddy had a Savage Striker left hand bolt repeater in .308, that would qualify & if you want to go down that "Slippery Slope", an Encore or Contender Contender may be pushing to get a solid killing cartridge at 250 yards, but the Encore can be loaded with 338 Win Mag, or 416 Rigby if you so chose...

My choice for that type of hunting is a scoped Contender in 7-30, but there are lots of Contender chamberings that’ll get you to 250.
A good revolver can get the job done way out, but I for one need the assistance of a flatter shooting round at those ranges.
An XP100 would be hard to beat as well.

I have a 14" 7-30 Waters barrel that is Prairie Dog accurate at 250 yards... I'd shoot a Coyote at that distance, but probably not a big white tail deer, like we have around here... maybe my 6.8 SPC, but that's a carbine length barrel

.308 Win. in an XP or Encore. .309 JDJ or . 338 JDJ No. 2 if you use a Contender. You did say medium to large, out to 250.

.308 Win. will handle your prescribed pursuit. I've enjoyed this round in Encores, XPs, MOA Maximum, and H-S Precision. Factory ammo is available almost everywhere with lots of options for bullet choice. An unappreciated round such as the 338 Federal would also suffice.

Have various Contenders for that range. Some include the 250 Savage, 6.5x54, 7x57 Mauser and 300 Savage.
There are almost unlimited choices in the Contender and Encore.

If you quarry goes to as large as White Tail or Mule Deer... I'd jump up to the Encore, or something like this... www.gunbroker.com/item/835841201& while this is listed as a left handed gun in the listing, this is just like my buddies in .308, & I consider it a right handed gun, so your strong hand is on the grip, & your weak hand cycles the bolt

Thanks to all! Know about the TC’s and the only single shot being produced now are the rem 700 (not interested) the moa maximum and Nosler. What’s the word on the moa? Looking 308.

MOA is really accurate. Neat design. Not sure of if they are making anymore right now. I may have an extra 308 if you decide to go that route

MOAs are extremely accurate. I have one in 6.5TCU.
Shame they aren't made anymore.

I have a small 10” in 30 Herrett. It’s a favorite to go shoot and extremely effective for deer. The 110 Barnes TAC TX is awesome out of that gun. Does about 2400 or so from the 10” barrel if I remember right and groups tight!

Groo here I have an M.O.A. [got it in Dayton Ohio when they first started] in 350 Rem Mag................. Had SSK put a brake on it and got the first scope mount. They shoot good, but the single action grip takes some getting use to if you shoot a hard kicker.[308 is Not!!] My deer gun is a 45-70 contender with SSK loads.[ NOT Marlin but hotter than trapdoor]. The drop needs accounted for but Federal 300gr JHP will group well [ I got under 2in most all the time ] and hit hard......

If you kept it inside 200yds, I wouldn’t have an issue with a 357max or any of the Supermags personally. I took my last pronghorn with my 357max at the 200 yard mark. However, I much prefer 150 and less with a traditional handgun. above comments are for medium game, I missed the large game part.
