Best I have found my carrier, American Airlines, says “totally inaccessible”. I cant find anything specific on just the lock.

I think its still a very bad idea to use TSA locks on gun cases and wont do it, unless mandatory. Not sure an airline can specify locks beyond TSA rules.

My trip is approaching quickly. I had the idea of stenciling my last name on my gun case. Is this a good idea, bad idea, or doesnt really matter. I was going to use tactical HOT PINK paint so it stand out easily.

I learned to "Flag" the handles with brightly colored duct tape to make cases easy to spot on the line.

Flagging the handle is what I would do.
The last time I flew with a firearm, the firearms cases needed to be picked up in person at a separate desk (not the baggage carousel). The flag on the handle made it easy to tell the person behind the counter which case was mine.
I never use a TSA accessible lock on my cases. Normally a short shackle Master lock. Typically after placing the "Unloaded Tag" into the case, it is locked by me and I am escorted to the X-Ray. Once the case is X-Rayed and approved you head to your gate.
Only one time, in I believe it was Dallas, TX, the TSA wanted to do a manual search of my case. Never before then, and never again, even on other transits through Dallas.
