Getting some Montana Precision Swagging Paper Patch bullets ready to try in my Cimarron 1885 38-55. It's been years since I tried paper patch bullets. Applying the wet patch (shown dry). After drying. After rolling in Lee Liquid Alox. Next step will be running them through a Lee .380 Bullet Sizer Die, after that I'll load them up in Starline 2.125 brass. Hope they work out! Bullets after running them through the bullet sizer die. Thanks for this!! Love seeing the process someone else does. I paper patch for my Father's Trapdoor Springfield. Mine dont turn out nearly as nice as yours but they work. I am using green bar printer paper. What paper are you using?

I tried some paper I had on hand for my printer, but it turned out to be too thick (.0045) for the .365 un-patched bullets. I was pretty lost about where to find the correct thickness but then I found this chart online. www.komaxwv.com/paperweightIt turned out the printer where I work uses 20lb. Bond paper so I "borrowed" a sheet to try. I'm not sure I'll try a thinner paper, the 20lb Bond is working pretty well! The un-patched bullets will fall to the muzzle when inserted in the chamber. I had a few people at the range asking about the rifle (probably due to the puffs of shredded paper when fired). I told them: "Usual barrel length's 28 inches. This one has an extra two. It's converted to use a special .38-caliber, 55-grain metal cartridge with a 250-grain paper-patched bullet. It's fitted with double set triggers and a vernier sight." (Wink!)

For anyone who tries paper patching I'll mention one mistake I made (at least with my process). I was being a little too precise when tucking my patch into the cup base. I had one bullet slip out of the patch when seating the bullets - I've since changed to a wider cut. Before Now

Cast up some MP 477-640's with the solid pin for my inbound FA model 83 475 Linebaugh. They dropped at 395gr with my alloy. Pics are: cast, powder coated and sized. Powder is from Trey (x101airborne) good stuff!

After loading 2K .32 H&R mags with 125 Keith SWCs a few weeks ago, we just today converted our #2 Dillon 550 over to .45ACP to load some of our Geezer load; Berry's 185gr plated HBRN over 4.4gr. of Clays. Easy on the old joints. Bought 1K bullets (seconds) a while back and got free shipping to boot.

Sure wish I had bought more Clays when it was available. I loaded up some Berry’s 45 ACP 185 HPs awhile back and was surprised how well they shot. Those “softball” loads sure are fun to shoot!

Loaded 500L with some PC’d 485gr. HP’s and both 41’s and 414’s. The 41’s had 210gr. Speer DC’s for the wife’s new 657, and some of Sixshots 250gr. PCHP downloaded to 1250fps in hopes of avoiding the leading issue. I really like the bullet and think it’ll do great at that velocity for Texas game. Some 9.3x74r was also loaded for my double gun, trying to get some 250gmx Hornadys to shoot to the sights at 100. Also put some 357max together to try in a new acquisition.
