Headed to Montana Thursday to chase those bouncy white tails. I'll be packing my OM 357 that's been converted to 45 Auto Rim, 5" barrel, tight cylinder gap, easy peezy trigger, 2 Dogs front sight, Bowen rear sight & some 223 gr HP's zeroed at 50 yds. Gun shot great today & I had a gallon water jug set up at 100 yds so I held just below the neck so I had some of the jug to hold on & lit the switch, made a pretty good splash! I'm ready if I can get one to stand still at 100 yds. Dick

Rey, Matt that use to work for Bobby Tyler built me this little packing beauty & he did a bang up job of fitting everything. It shoots some amazing groups with 2-3 different loads, I just need to "blood" it. It seems to make corrections in flight just to make me look good, I'm hoping one of those bouncy, bounce white tails can run down one of my 223 gr HP's while we're up there in Montana Thursday along the river. It's all walk & jump. I walk & they jump, kind of like Pheasant shooting.

Matt, the young gunsmith that built that gun worked up a load using H110 & a 250 gr Keith bullet I sent him & I was amazed at the velocity and also the accuracy. Matt is a young rooster with excellent eye sight plus he's a gifted gunsmith & I haven't been able to duplicate that group but he can, I've seen him do it. The gun was built right with tight specs, steel, rounded grip frame, belt mountain base pin, tight cylinder/forcing cone specs, etc. A very good barrel & a trigger that breaks like frozen lettuce, he also did the French Walnut stocks. Oh, I do have a spare OM 357, just not sure I want to part with it, it's my last one.

I've been forming brass for the 9.3x57 Husqvarna model 146 from 8x57 brass
9.3 bullets aren't thick on the ground these days, but I have some cast bullets for the 38 and 357 revolvers
I made an expander mandrel to neck the 8mm brass up, and I paper patched some 160gr swc bullets for a snug fit in the chamber
Starting with 35 Whelen load data for the 180gr bullet, I adjusted the powder charge relative to case capacity and went for full pressure fire forming
Worked great Form load is a ripper and hits to the sights
It's hell on pineapple size rocks Completely disintegrates water filled milk jugs I'm guessing it would atomize rabbits and would be hell on coyote Speed estimate is in the 2600fps neighborhood
Really fun ranch hooligan load for sure and it's getting the fire forming work done

I'm going to load up a few for the 15 in 30-06 Encore tonight . I did final load test and sight check today. Still haven't found the one 06 load I want but the 150 gr Imr 4350 load shoots well enough for now and it will be up first. Have the 14 in .35 Rem and the 6.5 Rem mag Competitor sighted in and ready also. Season opens o: dark thirty tomorrow.

I've the itch for some loads specific to the 4 5/8" BSBH 480. I've some 355gr big meplat , sorta SWC PC'd bullets here. Think it similar to an Oregon Trail offering ? But with a SWC's shoulder. With the shorter barrel, I'm thinking Power Pistol or Longshot ? We'll see, already busy weekend and I seem to be waking up, coming online SLOW this am..

No loading today, unloaded one I had loaded yesterday. Fired one 30-06 150 gr Hor. BTSP from my 15 in. Encore this afternoon on a dandy whitetail. Wicked hole on the off side and just shredded the lungs. He had 4 points on the right side nice and long, and 2 and a rosebud on the left side with a nice spread, unique rack and I like it. Biggest bodied deer ever.
