Had the same results when I shot a sparrow with my 458ACCREL. 350rfn at 2200. Head up and both wings spread and shredded.

If I total up all the game I have killed with the jrh I am sure it wouldn’t amount to a hind quarter off of that buffalo! But joking aside. I do like the JRH. I would call it a poor mans 500 somewhat in the bfr. It’s “affordable” to start Shooting.
I can’t touch a custom from Huntington Bowen or linebaugh at this point. I know the 500L is coming from BFR. But the JRH is a fun round as well.
My friends won’t let me forget that my little 500 is .010 smaller than their 500L’s

Been on my want list for a while now.
Quick question: Most pictured are the 5.5" length barrel...any reason to go to the longer barrel? Any of the standard arguments worth the clumsiness of the extra barrel length? sight radius when shooting open sights, recoil, performance benefits for slower powder?

.500 JRH....'nuff said..... A fantastic buff done with fantastic shooting. For the 50’s that arent big ole 500 smiths thats the one to get. Huntington really thought that one out well. Great performance and makes sense on soooo many levels! Congrats max and welcome to the club.

Do y'all guys think one if the trijicon rmr or a leupold red dot sight would hold up on the 500 jrh.

The 5.5 inch barrel is more practical for me for every day use. More of a utility type gun than the 7.5. I find the longer guns I only wear when actively hunting and the shorter barrels I carry for longer durations. I actually got a 7.5 and shortened it to 5” even.
Personal preference. It shot fine as a 7.5. I can say I like the balance of the 5 better. It does recoil differently. I had slomo videos of the before and after of the barrel chop. Don’t know if I can post them here.

Has anyone ever used one of the trijicon rmr or the leupold red dots on a 500 jrh or similar cal. how do they or how will they hold up?

I chose to add a 500 JRH in both the 5.5" and 7.5". My reasoning was hunting in Africa.
The law requires a minimum of 8" when hunting with a revolver. The MI 7.5" is measured forward of the receiver, so barrel is actually 8.2".
