My sixgun coyote happened this morning. I was actually deer hunting in my stand on my place behind the house. I decided to pack just a single call while laying out clothes last night, the call was a Carver Rabid rabbit. I decided to shift gears and get away from deer hunting. So I pulled the little Carver call out of my pocket. Gave it a nice simple short sequence and put it back in my pocket. She responded to the call Id say within 5 minutes so she had to be close. With the ground being soaking wet from recent rain and the CONSTANT ringing in my ears I have to wonder how I heard her come in, but I did. I reached and skinned my sixgun from my chest rig and took aim. As she stopped I thumbed the hammer, and focused on the front sight. She moved again going to some minor cover, thorns and twigs and such. She took two more steps, stopped and I broke the shot! I saw her fall, get back up and I thumbed the hammer again preparing to take a moving shot. But it wasnt necessary, she was down! The shot was 40-45yds with a Ruger Bisley Blackhawk Flat top in 44spl. The boolit (bullet) is a 245gr penta hollow point I cast. It was pushed by a healthy dose of H110 with a magnum spark plug. Ive been wanting this for a while and it finally happened! Not exactly the way I saw or planned but nonetheless I got it done. To me it was a little special, it was on my place, with a boolit I cast and loaded, with the handgun I took my first deer with that too was on my property, just 6yrs later. Awesome. Great job. That is one that won't be eating fawns this Spring... The Flattop 44 Bisley is a great revolver. You put it to good use!

Its a Diamond D Guides Choice chest rig. Its made for 7 1/2” Blackhawks but since good leather adds up I use it for my 5 1/2” guns also. It very comfortable and has carried them many miles with no complaints. I have another thats for 9 1/2” Super Redhawks and still comfortable.

I don't know... around here getting a shot at a yote with a handgun is pretty rare... I say you get voted in, if you've gotten a deer & a yote

Took the beagles up north to run hare yesterday. Started out at 33 degrees and temp dropped down to 19 by the time we were done hunting. I always bring my Cur dog with me. A couple years back, he tangled with a quill pig and lost. Now he hates them and when he winds them, he tries to find them and bay them up. He got us on 3 porcupines yesterday. A lot of houndsman are happy there are three less porcupines now. Took the porcupines with my .32 mag First one was a small one. but the gun is about two feet above it hanging on a branch stub so the size isn't to scale Second was quite a bit bigger Third one was nestled in the base of the tree and never came out. Darn things chew on bark. Tools of the trade while hare hunting Cold cur dog wearing my jacket

The first was pure opportunity. I also have 1 deer under my belt with the same gun just a few years ago. countless squirrels with a 22 Buckmark..... why do I feel like Im handing in a resume??? Lol Thanks guys, I appreciate all the nice and comical comments about my coyote! Im still smiling about it.

Though, I've had opportunities they just become ghosts when the time actually comes to pulling the trigger. I'm still asking myself the same question if I can be called a handgunner or not! I haven't killed a deer yet, just a black bear and countless little critters over the years of all shapes and sizes. I would consider you being a handgunner, FWIW! -Bill

Anybody that ventures into the woods and leaves the long guns behind is a handgun hunter. It is just a matter of whether or not you are a successful handgun hunter! I tell lifelong friends who are outdoorsmen and hunters that I am going to use a handgun on the hunt, and they look at me like I am crazy. They just don’t get it.
