It’s officially spring! First one of the year. Blasted out the pickup window with the 45 and a Lee255RF. Did you use the MP 300HP Ruger only boolit?

Did a walk around the building site on the farm yesterday, with my folding 12 ga.... Was hoping for a couple red squirrels, and a few non Easter bunnies... Rabbits were either flat out wide open, or at 75 -100 yards... Did get a couple pictures of some fat dead reds... Thinking I need to do dusk walk around for the bunnies

Had a nice walk on the mountain this morning. Mid thirties, hard snow so no misery slippers. Thought picket pins might be out but none spotted. Grizzlies are out at least by DeSoto pass. Was packing “Baby”, the long skinny fifty snd the viking fire princess had Goliath so we were well armed

WTH, we were on the porch this evening and smelled one of them. Must be scared to get closer between us and the owls.

I have a Black Mouth Cur that tangled with a porcupine a few years back. He learned his lesson and has become an amazing porcupine hound. Every time we are in an area with porcupines he finds them and barks to let me know where they are. Even if they are in a tree or under a root ball. Porcupines here are a major nuisance. You can shoot them 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. No bag limit, all that is required is a small game license Took the beagles up to the Tug Hill Plateau to run some snowshoe hare while the training season was still open. My cur dog found 5 porcupines that I dispatched. Never did find a Hare track but it was still an awesome day out with the hounds. Rango, the quill pig wonder Quill pigs den tree, look at the size of the crap pile Gratuitous gun shot. Ruger Single Six, .22 mag, steel ERH and grip frame, SBH style hammer. My woods bumming gun whether on foot or horseback. Couple pics of the beagles on the hunt.

Wow! A porcupine is one of three animals that I'll shoot on sight. The others being rattlesnakes and skunks. I didn't know they denned up in a certain tree like that. I've often found them miles from the nearest tree out in the bad lands while coyote hunting. Catches me off guard everytime

Mrs Shot a raccoon that doggie had treed during the night again, last Monday morning ( 4-15-19 )... I was busy, so I never did see it, Glad to see doggie feeling good enough to tree an animal, as he's been sick all winter, she said it dropped in the pond, & doggie dove in after it... she said it was pretty big... hopefully a female that won't be having babies this spring... she shot it with the lil 17 Mach 2 rifle... I'll be switching to using mostly handgun this year... once I get my 1st 22 CCM sighted in with my handloads, that gun will start working around the farm with me, from the security of a new Simply Rugged flap holster built to fit it... hoping it gets more use, always being at my side...
