This is mine. Guy bid and won. Then said he wouldn't send funds because it was a Uberti gun. How does one know? I was okay with it until his last email, now I think I will pursue through Gunbroker nonpaying buyer system. www.gunbroker.com/item/777639069"]link[/a]

SN is usually the easiest way to tell. I think the cutoff was somewhere in the 22,000s

This is 21009. But no Uberti markings.

Here's a link with some information. Either way, you posted the serial number in the ad for the auction. In my opinion he should have known what he was looking at if he's going to spend 1900 bucks. I would definitely do the nonpaying buyer setup if he's acting like a dick. pistolsmith.blogspot.com/2015/05/uberti-or-usfa-or-parts-gun.htmlGreg

Kinda my thoughts. I wasn't concerned about him backing out until the last email. He did have the serial number.

He did know, after he bragged to his friends and someone said it might be an Uberti. My thoughts.

First, I've never handled a USFA or a Uberti that I can recall, so nothing to offer there. Reading the link Greg provided leads one to believe that some sharp, clear pictures of the 1)inside of the frame with cylinder out and loading gate open 2)hammer serrations, 3)firing pin and 4)frame ears/hammer pivot area fit with hammer down might go a long way towards saying it is more likely one or the other. There are some guys on here who have a lot more knowledge than I about these USFA guns. Post up some pics and one of them will give you a better idea....maybe.
It's a nice gun though. Tempting.

There's a guy named fivestring that sells USFA parts on Gunbroker.
He's a Hell of a nice guy. I'd contact him and see if he can shed light. He may be able to tell you off the top of his head.
For the price that guy would have paid he was getting a heck of a deal anyhow.
I'd take that buyer to task on backing out with a non paying bidder report with GB but that's me....

Not yet. Trying to be decent about this. 5 days is up Sunday, if no resolution. I'll start the non-paying bidder process.

It appears in the first picture to have a Uberti firing pin, but that doesn't matter. The guy bid on it, he should have to pay.

I wish I could remember the details. 10-12 years ago I picked up a USPFA gun and gave it to my youngest. It was marked US PATENT Firearms, or USPFA. those are the early guns built from Uberti parts. Found some info that might help. www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php?topic=21560.0;wap2

I believe it is his responsibility to know and understand the item BEFORE he bids on it. I've made live auction mistakes before and just shut up and paid. After all it was MY mistake . Accountability and all that.
