Well, I got my Super 38 from the 'smith! What a gorgeous trigger he put on it! I did the finishing work and then cold blued to check the look, was getting ready to strip it and some friends are like this looks like an older gun now with some wear. Yeesh.....

Pre Series 70 Commercial Colt. Full accuracy job with Kart barrel and dustcover scope mount. Built by Dan Norwood in the 90s.

FWIW this was not my first 38 Super. The first gun had been converted into a 38 Special wadcutter gun by Jim Clark. I traded it for a stock 38 Super Series 70 gun that I had tricked out into a full up custom. That makes this one my 3rd 38 Super. The one a few posts back is my 4th. The 3rd and 4th live here with me now..

Here is #4... Barsto barrel, Caspian frame and slide. Currently runs a Burris 2X. You remember the one that Burris made for Gil Hebard… Built by KC Crawford. kcskustomcreations.com/

Axe handle, which one shoots better?

They both shoot good. This is the test target provided by KC. The Norwood gun shoots pretty much the same. Pushing 147 grain cast bullets at 700ish FPS the 38 Super 1911 recoils like a 22. While the 38 Super shoots good it is not as forgiving of relaxed loading practices as the 45 ACP. My supers like new brass best for 50 yard loads.

Bob, that is a new Rock Island slide, I had a local jeweler engrave it in a font similar to what Colt used in the 20s and 30s on it. I didn't want it exact, so that no one would accuse me of trying to fake the slide.
