For some reason it's not showing where I can do multiple quotes on my phone.
JM I like the ubertis but would rather have a ruger with the transfer bar. I had a traditions 357 sheriff but I'm not a 357 fan. And I have thought hard about a FA 97 but I've read reviews where people say you either love the grip frame or hate it and I don't know anyone in south MS who has one i could hold or try
Squawberryman thanks for the link and I have a tight grip on the checkbook for now haha

That aluminum grip frame is the secret to weight reduction and ease of carry IMO.
That and of course the obvious.....BIGGER HOLES!

DON'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO WHAT ANYONE SAYS ABOUT A GRIP UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY TRY IT YOURSELF--HIGHLY SUBJECTIVE, TO ME IT IS ONE OF THE BEST.

Of course if you want a steel grip frame that's a little smaller there are the short frames that came on the Single Six .32 Vaqueros.

Just remember when it comes to a Colt SAA type of action, draw the hammer back to half cock, load one chamber, skip one, load four, draw the hammer back to full cock & then lower the hammer upon the empty chamber & you'll be just fine.

I actually have a 445ul taurus that works great but I just can't make myself like it. Double actions dont fit my hands well due to my short fat hands. I do keep a J frame airweight in my pocket fishing and working around my yard for the no shoulders and have killed a few this year but its not big enough for woods carry. I'm mostly just wanting the lighter big bore for when I'm scouting out the hunting club. I also have a glock g30 that normally goes with me that works great but considering we are normally sweating most of the hunting season I like to keep a couple rounds of snake shot in the gun and it's just easier in a revolver. So for me a perfect woods packing gun would be a single action in the lower 30oz range in 44 special or 45 colt loaded around 950 fps with a 3.5"ish barrel for cross draw carry.
So now I'm trying to decide if I want to cut down a 45 blackhawk or find a sheriff length vaquero and add the aluminum grip frame and erh.

Smokingun, my avatar started life as full size bird head gripped 45colt, 3.75” barrel, it became my favorite field gun and one of the inspirations for My 4” 500L, Bear Spray. The only modification I would consider for it now would be an alum. Grip frame to make it lighter, especially if you’re going to stick with 1000fps velocity threshold. Otherwise even with the steel bisley grip frame it’s not noticeable carrying all day on the hip, when a good holster is used.
