Good shootin'! Did you save the rattle? (I collect 'em, and put 'em in my guitars and mandolins).

Boge... I did not save them. Although if you want them he should still be there and I can go get them. That was just yesterday afternoon. Good shooting? Well the 3rd shot was the charm. 1st hit him about midships, 2nd missed, 3rd sent first 4 inches of him flyin. Offhand scoped 14" Contender and the wind was a blowin'

Great shooting - both the camera and the Contender! When I looked closely, the second picture shows the snake's torso in two pieces mid-air. Didn't shoot the thing nearly enough though - not for my tastes anyway.

Thanks, Scott - he looks like he had a decent rattle on him.

Yeah the 2nd pic really turned out... the gun in slight recoil, dust from impact, snake flyin thru the air! Thank wife to be for that. Sent you another pm Boge.

I'm just a little curious as to why you shot that snake. He seemed to be out on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere doing no harm.

Pheasant season and German Shorthairs. Once you have had a dog bit any and all rattlesnakes get it. End of story. Eradication of the Prairie Rattlesnake is the goal.

I'll back you on that one. My mother-in-law was recently bit by a diamondback. Not to mention dogs and horses. I was lucky in never having my own Germans bit. Any rattler I see near my land, I attempt to kill. I'm the guy who has to fix the fence alongside the road.

I've learned that it's best not to get into an argument with people on this subject. People can talk themselves into feeling justified for any action if they want to. I just wondered what the OP's reasoning was.
I live out in the hills on 5 acres. I don't kill any snakes here. My property, my rules.
Your property, your rules. Killing snakes is not illegal.
