Cary -
You are correct. I have very strong opinions on the subject and I expect you do as well.

I'm just a little curious as to why you shot that snake. He seemed to be out on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere doing no harm. THANK YOU, MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY! (SHOUTING INTENDED) Same reason the man climbed the mountain.

To ask the meaning of life? I'll try to keep this short... I was on the deer lease once and saw 2 rattlers in the road... 3 of the 8 hunters are snakeaphobic... they hate 'em. The guy with me told the story how crazy I was to get out and move the snakes off the road so he wouldn't run over 'em. I told the story how crazy HE was shooting at the snake - while it was in my hand! Now seriously... who's the crazy one!?

To ask the meaning of life? Because it's there.

People's reaction to snakes can be extreme.... As teenagers in the 60s we would fill a bicycle inner tube with sand and pull it across the road at night on a dark road.... After I saw what people did the first night I didn't go back... The other guys did and had lots of really good tales to tell...

We did something kiiind of like that one night when I was about 8 back in El Paso. Last time I ever did ANYthing like that. One mad middle aged fellow screamed to a stop and came running out into the desert with a flashlight and pistol. I figured right then and there that wasn't the night time game for me!
