A week or so ago decided I needed a machete with more reach than my GI issue type that stays nyl-tied to my ATV. So did some google-fu and and ordered a 24" Latin Plus from Cold Steel. This will give me an extra 6" of reach from the machine for trail maintenance. It comes with some serious real, saw teeth on the back of the blade. I am wishing for a plastic sheath with attachment points though. Not sure how useful the nylon with only a belt loop will work for me. Also, due to the saw teeth I suppose, it has a series of snaps along the sheath to pretty much lay it open. Makes it kinda a three handed job to access and re-sheath. Hmmnnn.. Well, one problem at a time. A couple of decades back or so got 3 Trout and Bird blades from them. Great grouse n brookie knife for camp ! I gave two of them as gifts and one went into my bird vest. Over the years was kinda vocal per email and other forums about wishing the handles shank was a bit longer and the finger ringer bigger and below the line of the shank. Was just rather amazed while looking at the catalog that came along with the machete to see these mods had been done ! Am also happy with and carry almost daily a 5" Voyager. There is a Pendleton Lite Hunter in my deer gear bag too. Cold Steel, in my opinion, the real deal. Understand Lynn Thompson is known to some here. No surprise there I guess. Stay safe folks.

Sounds like a good tool. Look into folks who make kydex holsters for a sheath for you. From what I've seen,, you could possibly get a sheet piece of kydex, heat & fold it to your desired shape. Just an idea,,,,!

My wife bought me 3 of their inexpensive fixed blades last Christmas. Midway had a sale and I think she only paid 10 or $11 apiece. I have been impressed with them. $10 knife that isn't a piece of crap. Some of them have been pulling kitchen duty.

Seems our ole Sixshot, He Who Crocs on Water, packs a Voyager as a last ditch Badger wee-pon. If my memory functioning this am.. Please regard this last as my sense of humor, tongue-in-cheek stuff.

Due to time issues, call to Cold Steel has to wait a bit. Per Whit's post, wife adding 2 steak knives to the order.

Lynn Thompson is the real deal and he doesn't get enough credit for his handgun hunting. He puts his money where his mouth is and has earned me as a customer. I've met him twice now. Hell of a nice guy and gracious. Also probably one of the last people you'd want to get into a knife fight with.
I've actually been working on a proprietary knife sheath design around one of his tantos.

I have 3 Cold Steel blades, won 2 of them at raffles that Lynn donated & they are very good quality! I agree you would not want to get into a knife fight with him unless you were wearing body armor because he is a world champion knife fighter ( true story) also he is one dandy hand gun shot. He burns a LOT of powder & I stood next to him once & watched him down 5 out of six very small steel targets offhand at 50 yds DOUBLE ACTION with a S&W 357 maggie, not an easy feat. If you are in the market for a good blade or machete, Cold Steel is a very good product & Lynn does a lot for our sport. While at Raton he donates a lot of Cold Steel products. He also hunts some nasty stuff with a spear if you're interested in looking it up on the internet.

I've got an early CS Master Hunter. It can gut, skin, & quarter a Bull Elk without needing to be sharpened during the entire process. I'm sold.
