Also I agree with casting softer bullets. I lucked into a thousand pounds of Linotype that I use super sparingly to sweeten up my bullet metal when I need it. I don't really check hardness, but I use mostly 75% wheelweights to 25% lead with a pound of Lino every other pot or so to keep good fill out.
I also came across 5000 pounds of wheelweights and plan to shoot them all!!!
I have had fantastic success running my bullets as a hobby. I don't compete but I sure have fun!
