Stopped by my favorite local pusher this afternoon to see if their FFL was on file with a particular wholesaler. Against my better judgement I asked to look at the 4" S&W M15 in the case as well... 1981 DOB per the SCSW, pinned but not recessed (I never can remember if the .38s were ever recessed anyway), clean as a whistle, locks up nicely and handles like a dream. Looks like someones low mileage safe queen. The only 2 drawbacks are the stocks have been replaced with Hogue rubbers which feel OK but I'll have to round up the proper stocks for it (or have something nice made) and the price. The silly thing was priced at $350 which is extremely fair IMO for what it is and the best price I've seen locally on a clean K Frame in some time. No box or papers which is fine by me. Those would have probably kicked it over $500. No pics yet, it's on layawake. Most of the fun fund is going into AR builds, another bottom feeder and mags but I'll get it paid out in a month or so.

Sounds like a decent price. And no, the .38s were never recessed, only the mag calibers and .22s.
I join you in being weak today also. Bought a model 58 and a pre-26 Smith.

Pre-26...without digging out "The Book", isn't that the Model of 1950? A 4" 57 or 58 would suit me fine! Along with a 4" and/or 6" 22, 25, 27, 28, 38/44 HD and something in .32-20! Taking emotion out of the equation and looking back objectively at the firearms I've sold over the years, my only real regrets are selling the first batch of Smiths I had and the 3 Colt 1903 .32 ACPs. They can all be replaced but not at the prices I sold them for (which was still the going rate at the time) nor as quickly as I acquired them. Most had to go for a good reason (keeping us above water back then) but some that got away were just a clear case of dumbass.

Yep. By the time I started gettin back into guns, was mostly through having to sell to stay a little bit afloat for a little bit longer. But a pretty good handful of guitars that are not easily replaced went that way..

I know the feeling. Went to lgs to look at a s&w 686 plus with a 3 inch barrel. Had been watching some on gunbroker, but wanted to see one in person first. Was looking for a new conceal carry. Looking in the used gun case (hard to even get a look at the new ones, too crowded) and there was just what i was looking for. Needless to say, it went home with me. Usually try to buy new, but have been finding some very nice used for a reasonable price. I am weak also! The first step is admitting you have a problem.

Nah, that's not being weak. It's being strong. Not just anyone can give a good home to an orphan S&W!

Nah, that's not being weak. It's being strong. Not just anyone can give a good home to an orphan S&W! For me clean, reasonably priced post-war Smiths are kind of like going past the rescue shelter tables set up outside a pet store. I just want to give them all a good home!

Broke it out of jail a couple of weeks ago and hit the range yesterday M15 by awp101, on Flickr I need to spend more time working on patience when shooting and a nice revolver helps.
