The grips I'm familiar with from LC were considerably more than the 2-300 you mentioned. I've never found a website though; I'd love to have a link to it to have a look around.
As to the price of the gun, that's between the buyer and seller. His price is too high for my comfort zone though. Similar gun with 5 shot cylinder and custom barrel, then it would seem more fitting. Then again, Mr. Stroh's retired so if that's what you're after... Tim

Tim When I look up his name the first thing says grips by larry, but I don't think it's him, he has auto grips & knife grips and in NV. gripsbylarry.com/
It would stand to reason that spending that much you would have an expensive pair of grips done as well not $100, that's what I spend on mine tops, I wouldn't spend $300 on grips but that's me, I don't put $2k scopes on $600 rifle's either, I can't justify that.

I talked to the seller several weeks ago when he PMed me about possibly selling this gun. He sent pictures, told me all that was done and knowing I like custom revolvers, wanted to know if I had any interest. I had just talked my way into a few other guns so I passed but it was not because of the price. Having Jim do a couple of jobs for me and knowing the quality of his work as well as the cost of Turnbull to do what he did and Larry's grips, I told him I did not question his price, just poor timing on my part. I know some comments have been made about the stock rear sight but how many of us are waiting on Bowen rear sights right now and for how long have we been waiting.
It is a lot of money no doubt but with all the good comments on how nice the flat top 44 specials are starting out like and the other work done, I don't think it is out of line but that is just my opinion. The truth of the matter is the market will dictate if his price is worth paying or if it is out of line.

Exactly, today most guns we like here are market driven. OM Rugers, Bowen, Linebaugh, Reeder, Clements, etc There have been a few I've been watching on GB for over a month, one from Reeder OM SBH, One from Gallagher custom 32 WCF Ruger, Clements done Ruger 45acp/auto rim, and a few others They get relisted over & over at the same price. It's a buyer's market. When considered the cost of the host gun, the custom package or just work ordered, grips and other stuff, etc the cost to build is ridiculous on most of these guns but resale is a different story. Some guys sell OM Rugers for $800-$1000 no matter condition, simply because their OM's, shopping around, you can find them for $400-$500 same guns, even better condition sometimes. I always shop around the last 5 handguns I've bought we at 2 to 3 times less then everyone else is usually paying sucks sometimes cause I want something NOW but I can get 2 or 3 guns VS one that way. Customs are a problem IMO, may not be everything someone would have wanted therefore they don't want to spend that much. I see these guns sit and sit until either the seller finally drops the price and gets action or gets pissed and puts it back in the safe.

If I had the money I'd pay his asking price. I'm not crazy about the flowery language used in the ad but that does not detract from the gun and Jim Stroh ain't building any more. I'd have a lot of fun gettin that thing dirty, bloody and worn.

What was it that Ross Seyfried said about customs? Something about it being hard on your wallet when trying to sell them? Granted, he was talking about rifles but described the sensation as being similar to taking two $100 bills, laying them 3 inches apart, and setting fire to one of them. I'm sure the work is excellent, and it certainly is beautiful, but I still think that's a lot of money for a revolver still carrying the factory cylinder and barrel. But, to each his own...

Larry lives not far from me and I've had the opportunity to visit him (and his tortose) a few times.
You'll probably not meet another with more scholarly knowledge on walnut trees.
He has quite a few unique ones growing in his yard.
His prices are about middle of the road.
He does great work and is a neat guy...

The grips by Larry Caudill are the best part of this gun. Followed closely by the Stroh front sight.
