Alrighty then, just in and up. The Savage Axis 2, 350 Legend got to come out for a bit, 18.5" barrel. The Federal factory 180gr load clocked 2089-2133 fps. I'll be hunting with Winchesters 180. The other load uses a 9mm 147gr XTP on H110, the data from the AR crowd and I guess it feeds for them. The Axis 2 won't get it into the chamber, so a single shot proposition for bolt guns. It ran 2380-2386 fps. Recoil from the light carbine, nil. Anybody could shoot one of these.

I recently picked up a Huntington 45 Colt conversion. I put a few rounds (300 grain GCWNFP and a healthy dose of H110) through it this afternoon just for good measure. Serious bench work to follow.

Son and I shot a silhouette match at Crittenden Ky. today. I shot 1/5 th scale with XP IN .221 Fireball and scoped revolver .44 mag Ruger 10 1/2 in barrel. Son used his T C 7-30 Waters, Keystone Chipmunk .22 ,and XP in 221 Fireball. Beautiful day to shoot ,not so beautiful shooting, hands kinda twitchy today. First time in a lotta years I've had a revolver in my hand shooting at silhouette's. Really enjoy shooting days with my son,fun times. The smile stays long after the scores are lost to memory!

Son and I went to the farm to mow today and shoot a bit.Son had a TC 7-30 Waters, 222, 35 Rem,243, 30-06,22 Chipmunk pistol. I took a 416 Stevens 22 rifle ,Cricket 22 pistol and a TC in 22 lr. Eight to 12in targets starting at 200, 250 300,350 with 12x12 at 400. I stayed with the 22's all day finally going 5 out of 10 at 400 on the 12x12 plate with the Cricket 22 pistol and 4x scope at 400 yds, no wind to speak of. Shore do like the way that little gun shoots.

Shot an original 4 3/4 inch Colt Bisley .45 and 3 .22s, a custom Single Six, a High Standard Double 9 and a Wilson Combat 1911 with Colt .22 Conversion unit. I always shoot the 3 .22s but the CF varies.

Took a couple ARs out yesterday to zero. My newest & until yesterday unfired, 14.5" 5.56 & my trusty 18" 6.8.
I went a little overboard on the 5.56 & sprung for quality parts, to include a Steiner 1-4x, Geissele SSP trigger, ADM scope mount & the like & was excited to give 'er a test run. Just ran a couple boxes of XM855 through to zero & play a bit. Shot as well as any of my ARs (which is very well) & I love the glass & trigger & that's gonna up the budget for the next build. Lol! Nice little gun that I'm liking a bunch & looking forward to getting better acquainted with it.
My 6.8 wears a Vortex Viper 2-7x32 & had been zeroed with 110gr Nosler Accubonds from SSA. Going out to CO next week to camp with family & do some prairie dog & jackrabbits at my cousin's place south of Breckenridge, so I wanted to re-zero for the 90gr Speer TNT from SSA. That accomplished, I wanted to try out some of the Federal XM68GD & see where they shot, in relation to the TNT. 1st shot punched the cross hairs out of my "shoot & see" target at 25yds & the next 19 rounds went into a ragged 3/4" hole at a 1 shot per second-ish pace. I'm liking that & may use the Gold Dots for deer this year. I've shot the 90gr Speers sub-moa at 300 yards from the prone supported & at first blush, I think the Gold Dots may be more accurate than Speers. Love this gun more & more, every time I shoot it.
I need to make time to shoot these over the chrony sometime & gather better data on my rifles are really doing, especially the 6.8, as I consider it more of a hunting/special purpose/performance rifle (& really want slightly bigger glass for it). The 5.56 is my zombie apocalypse rifle, so as long as I know where XM855 hits in relation to XM193, I'll be happy.
