I have the opportunity to trade for a Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44 magnum that Mr. Gallagher did an Octagon barrel conversion on. Was hoping if I posted up some pictures here y'all could help me get an idea of its worth. I'm not the biggest fan of 44 magnum for no other reason than I tend to like things that are out of the ordinary, but I have been wanting a customized Octagon barrel revolver. So I would love to hear y'all's thoughts on this one. From what I understand it has a free spin cylinder and an action job was done in addition to the installation of the octagon barrel. I have a lot of pictures of the revolver if there is anything that needs to be seen more specifically.

That is as nice a custom revolver as you will find. The Sambar grips are just icing on the cake in my opinion.

It also has a new cylinder - most likely a rechambered Maxie cylinder.

The 44mag is becoming a oddball round with everyone going bigger I guess there is something to that.

It also has a new cylinder - most likely a rechambered Maxie cylinder. I hadn't noticed that. I had just been assuming that was the original cylinder for it.

Ready to go with Garrett's 330 grain hammerhead load. Which puts the 44 Maggie back in relevance.

I would jump on it too. I think I have been waiting almost 3 years just for him to make the octagon barrell. This is exactly what I want.

It is in the mail on its way to me now. Still can't decide if I am going to keep it or not.
This thread has me pretty excited about it. The only thing that makes me hesitate is it being blued. Like the looks of a blued gun, but the practicality of stainless for a using gun is tough to pass on. That and I have a thing for the clean look of the Bisquero based guns.

There's nothing frail about bluing. Treat it right and it'll treat you well and frankly, stainless, IMHO, can't touch a blued gun from an aesthetic standpoint. That is a beautiful gun, enjoy it!

John always uses the maxi cylinders to work with the big Garretts. It's his personal favorite load for hunting.
