It's listed on Galleryofguns as of yesterday, but not available yet.
I just brought a 44 version (Kodiak Backpacker) home yesterday.

It's a neat idea, but a snubbie magnum doesn't make sense to me anymore, especially in a full sized revolver. I will be interested in watching reports of hand loaders tailoring pet loads for a gun like this. It seems like a "police load" platform, but then, that concept essentially failed until it was modernized into the .40 S&W.
A lighter weight, fixed sight gun would have been a neat idea - a la the S&W M58 or the similar S&W M21.
On the other hand, the small core of enthusiasts will snap these up, the remainders will be sold at deep discount; then, in four years, they will command collector's prices.

It sure took Ruger a while...S&W had the idea in 1986 (model 657 3" .41).

I have one of the new 4-inch .41 Mag Redhawks. This makes more sense to me, I would like to wring one of them out. Are you going to be doing a review on the one you have? Or is it a personal one? Not knocking this short barreled specimen, but a Longer barrel for Trail would suit me better. rjm52 : Changing the grips to a better shape might prove worthy also. Charles

cherokeetracker.... The 4" is a much more "shootable" gun. I bought this one just because I like to try different .41s and I don't expect many to be made.
Have not looked that closely yet but because there are not many round butt Redhawks the aftermarket grip selection is a little "slim". It does appear however that the standard Square Butt grips do if as long as it doesn't have an open backstrap.

I do know from experience that shooting several RedHawks that do have custom grips, made them much better and more enjoyable to shoot. Rob Rowen for one, has done an excellent job with the RedHawk grips. When I looked at the photos and the round butt, I was thinking how good this gun would be for carry, ( round butt included) But was looking at the fourth photo. I was looking at it and thinking that the back portion of the grip could stand to be a little wider, and yet keep the width of the fron portion, the same as factory. This I feel, would would reduce felt recoil and the grip would feel better in ones hand. Looking at the fourth photo the thickness seems to be the same, and the way the grip is rounded seem to be symmetrical. Again I have to agree some kind of aftermarket grip would be your quick fix. I hope this gun serves you well, and you can show a good range report. Charles
