Probably should have put this in the reloading section but I figured it will get seen more here.
Anyone heard anything about a Winchester primer recall ? Is this something old, new, true, or internet BS?

I had a bunch of issues with WLP's from several different batches that I said something about on here a couple years ago.one or two others replied with issues too. Other than that my internet searches have turned up nothing from Winchester.

The only ones I have had issues with the last two years have been CCI Large Pistol Magnums where about one in ten of the first 200 I loaded from a brick didn't go bang even after repeated hits that all looked pretty solid.
I have never had an issue with Winchester Large Pistol's, but then my usage is a sliver of one percent of one days production.

I also had a brick of CCT Small Rifle magnums that gave me fits in my 454 in the click no bang dept.

It seems like there was a recall about 2 or 3 years ago, IIRC.

I guess this is kind of old news. This is info from another forum. I have several boxes of Winchester primers I am going to have to check. As I said this is from another forum so if it's on the internet it has to be true "sarcasm" but it does bare checking your stock and maybe calling.
Bad Winchester primer lot numbers Call Winchester 1-618-258-2738 Sharon. Okay, here's what I've got.
Once again, these lot numbers are simply ones that have been reported as problematic by internet posters. I have no way of knowing if the information is correct, or that other lots not listed are okay. It's your responsibility to contact Winchester for specific information.
LOTS REPORTED BY USERS ONLINE:
CAL401G CFL486G CLL555G DAL594G DFL717G DHL766G DNL 837G DNL836G EAL234G GDL 225G GEL 250G DML834G WLR EAL234G WLRM CLL555G CCL435G EHL067G DHL774G DHL788G DAL594G CAL401G GDL255G GFL284G DGL741G FEL255G DGL731G DKL801G HLL692G DHL765G DFL713G DLL826G DFL723G DEL690G CLL552G DGL747G
LOTS IN MY POSSESSION RECALLED BY WINCHESTER:
CGL499G HKL687G
Sharon got back to me this morning. She wants the following lots back:
HBL HFL DHL HCL HAL
Just off the phone with Sharon. They want all mine back - here are the Lot Numbers:
WLRM: DFL188G
WLR: DEL702G DFL719G GEL258G DFL722 G I reported the 5 lot numbers I have on hand and Sharon called today wanting all of them back. BDL DHL CFL EFL DFL
Add these to the list: DEL 688G HFL 590G HEL 374G YKL270G

Were only large pistol primers affected or any size?

How are you supposed to return them? I thought individuals couldn't ship primers (could be wrong).

I'd imagine it would be a little expensive shipping but wouldn't it be the same process as shipping ammo? I'd ship through UPS not USPS, they're a Nuisance to use! I'd imagine though if they want it back THEY would send you a shipping label. BigBore44

They will have a truck come pick them up. This happened to me a couple years ago with some LR primers. They sent a big frickin semi out to pick up a small box of primers. They replaced them, shipped right to me.

Raw primers and powder are outside of the ORDM classification and require you to pay Haz Mat fees to ship them. In Addition you must be a certified Haz Mat shipper to legally ship them.

Just spoke to Sharon. As some of you guys said this is an old issue. She said that it was not really a recall. Some people had issues that were dependent on how you reloaded, cases used and such, and if they had had issues,Winchester would replace them. This only pertained to Large Rifle primers. She also very politely reminded me to not believe every thing you get off the internet.YA THINK!
