we lost our sow, after she weaned the last litter of piglets last year ( we just raise a few, we are not really "pig farmers" ) so we kept a couple little girl pigs, but needed to get rid of our boar ( because he was their daddy )... when they came to haul him to market, he weighed 875 lbs... the guy that hauled him was like "you're not getting in the pen with that monster are you" I said... ya no problem, as long as he's not in the breeding mood the one in the pic above looks to have a little russian in him??? nice looking piggie

Congratulations James, and Nice shooting. Were you in a stand? One thing I have noticed about you James, is that you don't seem to run short of different guns to kill the hogs with. I am sure that's not a problem with you.

Congrats to you, James... How about a little story behind the hunt...? Thanks BigBore44 Thanks guys for your the nice things you`ve said. I did not write anything because I did not want to "boar" you guys every time I shoot a big pig. I got into boar hunting many years ago because I could not wait for the deer season to come back up.... I really enjoy shooting things with my handguns and boar, whether inside or outside of a ranch, are perfect for handgun hunters no matter what age.... Myself and a few of my friends meet at Salt Creek that is a family owned operation in Vinton county. The day I arrived it was a rain/snow mix and the big hill we were hunting was a mass of mud and ice covered rocks that made going downhill a tricky proposition. The owner asked me if I could try and take my boar as soon as possible as he was causing havoc with the sows and beating the hell out of the other boar. No problem. When you hunt Salt Creek its either uphill or downhill...no in between. Being 65 the up hill part knocked the hell out of me but I thank God I was able to do it. After making it to the top we started our way downhill when in the distance we could hear two boar fighting which was the signal for me to lead the way. I also carried my scoped FA`s m-83 in 41 mag for any shots beyond 50 yards along with the iron sight 45 Colt Bisley. I was coming down a rock covered path when we ran into my boar about 40 or so yards as he was coming up. He stopped and was likely trying to figure what I was as I drew my 45 loaded with 260gr partitions. I had picked up a turkey hunters type vest from Cabelas that includes a seat pad that is great for handgun hunting and is what I sat on and along with cross sticks I sighted in on my boar with a red fiber optic front. He was facing me and as he turned to my left and exposed his shoulder I made my shot. My partition went through both lungs, clipped the top of the heart and exited. He was hit HARD...... He hugged the side of the hill as I made about ten steps before he was back in my sights. I tried for a head shot but put it through his ear. I`am no Wyatt Earp.... However, two more shots connected and ended my hunt... My friends took some more boar along with an impressive ram. This was a 1231 mile round trip drive for me from Jersey and was worth every mile to handgun hunt with friends from across the country.....Thank you.....PS those big glasses I have on are a clear lens video camera that was fogged up....
